and to celebrate hitting 10,000 posts...

I'm selling my car.

It's been a good run and I still love this car very much. But I'm about to start a new chapter in my life and it's time to move on.

I'm going to be pretty sad to let her go. But I hope the next owner takes good care of her.

The car is for sale as she sits now. If you're interested, shoot me a PM and we'll talk.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge with me over the years.

I'm pretty sure you can't sell until you reach 15,000 posts. ;-)

What are you buying next?

Well, if everything goes to plan tomorrow (and it should), I will qualify for employee rates on all Hyundai vehicles. I'll be getting a fully loaded Sonata.

I can afford to keep the Acura, but it just wouldn't be worth it. I would only be driving it on the weekends, if that. It's not worth the monthly payments to have it sit in the garage 95% of the time. I'd rather use that money on a house or investment.

Hell....I do that (2 vehicles)...but I still won't let her go...."F" that....

But, I most likely don't have as many payments left as you do. I feel you on the whole house situation though. I'm just sticking it out till its paid.

Good luck with whatever you do......your more grown than I am

hmmm are you sure letting go the TL is the way to go?

I'm just afraid you might regret it....

its really hard to another old car at this price that looks as good as the TL-S.

Unless you are upgrading to something better, I'd suggest keeping the TL.

I hope everything works out for ya.

I'm not running scared, I swear.

Buy my car, so you can race both cars whenever you want.

I'm going to try to sell it as is. But if it doesn't sell, then part it out.

It's listed in the FS section.

Employee pricing.

Tomorow, I'll be calling the nice lady at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and say "I do."

I can either keep two cars now for no good reason, or get into a brand new car with a discount and be able to afford much better things a couple of years from now. It just makes financial sense... which my parents talked into me. Trust me, I said no for like a month. I've always loved this car and I still do. But it's just time to let her go.

Hopefully I won't regret it... but damn it, I probably won't eat or sleep right for a few days after selling it.

Yep, it looks like it.

Kris -- Ya know, I probably will, at least for a while. Either way, it's going to suck.

Bob -- I'm going to stay the hell off of Hyundai forums, because I don't want to modify the Sonata. Okay, now before you laugh, look at these pictures.

Hey PA,

축하 !!! (I hope you can read ... I know you can speak) Sad to think that all the Korean movies I've watched, I can say a couple of things like "ahnyounghee-kaseyo".

Good luck on the new job. What does it entail? I have a friend who works NVH (engineering) for a Honda subsiduary and said the previous Hyundai's were bad but they are catching up fast. I've told many friends that Hyundai today is like Honda of the 80s -- high quality at a great price.

When are you leaving? We might have to have a Windsor/Detroit/Toronto meet sooner.

PS I thought you were going to give me all your mods for free and in fact, install them on my car ...

Nooooooooooooooooo! Say it isn't so PA. You definitely have one of the hottest 2G's on AZ. I for one, will be sad to see it go. But your reasoning is understandable.

Question, since you will be driving a Hyundai, why not drive the Azera Limited?

An Acura to a Hyundai? I agree they are getting better in quality, but their blatant copying of other manufacturer's design pisses me off to no end. They have absolutely ZERO originality. The Sonata looks like a Lexus IS and Honda Accord bastard child from behind. And have you seen the new Kia Optima? I'll be damned if it doesn't look a lot like an Infiniti Q from the front. They are shameless!

Now that my rant is over, can you not get employee pricing on Kia since they're essentially the same? I find the new Optima in all its Infiniti/Altima ways to be more attractive than the bloated looking Sonata. But it is your car, and for thinking about tomorrow rather than just today!

03CoupeV6 -- Everybody copies. That's how Honda, Nissan and Toyota have all come to great success in the past. In the next 10 years, Hyundai will be right up there with them.

JP -- I can't drive an Azera. It's a bit too much for my position at the company. Same reason I can't drive the TL there -- can't pull up in a car more expensive than my boss'.

Eedvl -- I'm glad it got there safely. I hope it worked out for you.

Derrick -- Thank you. And yeah, I can read it. In fact, I had to practically perform a dual-interview both times I went down there, with the American managers and the Korean managers. They even gave me a test on the spot, to evaluate my translation skills. I was shitting bricks.

Hyundai really has caught up. Their new factory down there is simply breath-taking. And I've been to factories before. It was even featured in Modern Marvels, because it's considered a state-of-the-art facility. Hyundai should be doing some great things in the next few years, and I'm excited to be a part of it there. As big an Acura/Honda fan as I am, I can't help but feel national pride when I see Hyundai rapdily rising and expanding.

Oh, yeah, if I part it out and you buy the parts, I'll definitely assist in installation.

Hey what town is the plant in? I don't think it is all that far from my house in Georgia, but I get the locations of the Honda plant, Hyundai plant, and Mercedes plant confused. Have you ever been to Mercedes down in Alabama? That place is gorgeous.

Edit: It's in Montgomery.. nevermind, that's quite a ways!

Whereabouts in GA?

For my second interview, I had to fly into Atlanta, then drive all the way to Montgomery. Took about 2.5 hours taking it easy.

No, I haven't been to the Mercedes plant, but I'm looking forward to a tour there once I move.

Sorry to hear you are letting her go PA, but I dont understand why. Employee pricing or not, I dont see how trading your car in now when it still has plenty of life left is the good financial move. Why not just keep your car which you already have significant money, and time invested in, and then trade it in later when you feel its near the end of its life. That employee discount will still be there for you, and depreciation on the Acura will be less of an issue.

By now you probably own, or are going to own the Acura in the free and clear sooner than you would a new car. That would put you in the spot to save more money, sooner.

Either way, good luck with the new job, and if you do end up with Sonata; :thumbsup. I really like the new ones. The Hyundai of today is a long way from where it started; they really make some nice cars, and the Sonata is one of their best overall IMO.

Well, it's not a problem to keep it. The thing is, I kinda sorta have to get a Hyundai vehicle. It's pretty bad for the image when a new Korean employee working at Hyundai comes to work in an Acura, especially one as noticeable as this. So I want to get a Hyundai vehicle, that really can't be changed at this point.

Now, then the TL will have to sit in the garage for 5 days of the week, and that's if I get to take it out on the weekends. I doubt I will have much free time. So why pay hundreds of dollars for a car I won't get to drive? I could save that money up, or put it toward something else. That's where it makes financial sense for me.

I can sort of understand that, but I would think it would be more of a bad image issue if you bought the Acura after you already started working there. Since you had the car before coming to hyundai, I dont really see is as that big a deal.

If I could help it, I also personally wouldn\\\'t make any big decisions like this before I became settled in at a new job for a litle bit, and was totally sure I wanted to stay there for a long time to come.

Good Luck though; wish you all the best.

PA. there is nothing wrong w a hyundai.. my parents first bought a sonata, then a santa fe, then finally they have a touson... they have great warranties and they don't have any problems with any of the hyundais that they owned... if you get a lot of snow in your area i would consider the touscon... they are great and really fun to drive in the snow... the sonata was OK, but not the best... good luck..
