cat back vs. axle back

does cat back systems sounds louder than the axle back system?

say, with a comptech cat back will louder than the axle back?

and how about the other cat backs?

i am thinking of doing a cat back since it dosen't cost a lot more than the axle back

well if you use the factory pipe and resonators a new axel back will be louder/deaper unless you goob it up with acouple resonators. a new axel back would/should yeild slightly more hp (larger dia)

axle-back and cat-back sounds wont be noticeably different. The sound is determined mainly by resonators and mufflers. Unless you had a catback with like 7" piping compared to stock, you wont hear a difference.

i went ahead with catback, especially cuz i have a TL-P. If your gonna have new piping done at a muffler shop, i say go ahead and do it. They don't charge much to put new cat-back piping.

is there a lot of power gain with the cat back?

coz i will have CT headers and icebox later next year, how does it work with those mods?

From experience a cat-back will be louder then a axle-back. Cause on the axle-back all you are doing is changing the mufflers but still retaing your stock piping and resanator's. If you do the whole cat-back you will be increasing the size of the pipe, only one resanator and most likely straight thru mufflers.

um...i will stick back with axle back setup

well, i have found a set of used axle back for a gd price, i might just jump on that instead

it turns out cheaper than doing the custom job...

if it doesn't go thru i will do the custom job, either way is gd~

Custom jobs are good but its gonna be harder to sell if you decide to part out your car. Catback will produce greater hp some will even lose a little bit of low end torque but hp gain will compensate. For me, I would rec going full catback because you get better flow and a larger drop in back pressure. Since im in california, if im already breaking the law by having two shiny mufflers in the back, i would take catback instead
