Cargo net question

I did a search and found nothing for the second generation cargo net.

How does it work.

I have cargo net, came with the car (2003 TL-S). The net itself looks like it has 6 places to attach. The only hooks I see in the trunk however is 2 hooks on the rear of the car (next to trunk opening), and one on either side wall.

Any help? I don't want my golf clubs to be rolling around all summer. Had a smaller car before, so it wasn't an issue...this trunk however is large enough to lay the clubs width wise.

Yeah, I've wondered that too. The cargo nets on all my other cars were so simple. Also, how do you guys attach it if you have the trunk tray?

I think the net was designed to be multi-purpose so you can attach it however you want it. There should be two anchor points in the floor, one on each side of the trunk-behind the tail lights, and I think there's another set further back in the sides of the truck closer to the wheel wells (I could be wrong on that).

I don't golf so I have no idea how big a golf bag is, but if your clubs will lie right up against the back of car (next to the opening of the trunk) and you can get your net around them - set up the net so that the two corner loops on each side of the net are hooked up the their respective anchor points behind your tail lights (so, the two corner net hoops on one side of the net attach to the right anchor point, and two corner hoops on the other side of the net attach to the left anchor point. The middle net hoops hang loose). That way you have the net forms a "pouch" that you can stick you clubs in.

The same should work with the trunk tray since the tray would only cover the anchor points on the floor.

Dude -- thanks so much for asking this question!! I've only had my TL a short while and also had trouble figuring out the different configurations - none of which ever seemed 'right'. I even asked one of the guys at Acura when I was picking up a part and they couldn't figure it out either! If anyone has any pics of various ways they've hooked theirs up - that'd be great! I think mine was just left with all of the hooks attached to the same anchor-point near the trunk lid! ....Doesn't let me do much... :toothless

That guy should be fired immediately, what a moron.
Just try different configurations with the nets six(I think) loops and the knobs, you should make a something that works with what your holding.

I need to check again. I didn't notice any hook points on the trunk floor. Only two sets about 2/3 of the way up.

In my search, there was some pics posted of an '04 cargo net, which looked similar, although they were using floor hook points as well. I have the cargo tray(came with the car). I lifted it up a bit, maybe I need to look again.

I can see how you might be able to create a 'hammock' effect with the high hook points, but that appeared to be my only option.

I have seen two types of cargo trays on all the other cars I have seen them on:

1. hook points on the bottom. cargo net holds your stuff to the floor of the trunk.
2. hook points on either side, with a top and bottom hook, so you can split the trunk in two.

Hell, I am only a salesman, not a rocket scientist. How am I supposed t figure something like this thing out?

hahahaha!

yeah - i've recreated that 'hammock' type config, but i just didn't see how that particular set-up would be horribly useful to me... i guess that is how the net goes though. i was probably just imaging it a little different... more like a: |__| or \__/ shape instead of one that is almost completely horizontal or "V"-ish. it was also a bit confusing since i ended up with the two loops and no place to hook 'em on (6 loops and not as many anchor points)... didn't see how to use different loops for various combos.. ? hehehe.. sorry... my old car didn't have this fancy feature! :P --- just a big ole trunk! hehe

here's a hint. hook ALL the loops onto the anchors. the anchors on the rear wall (near the bumper) get two loops each. It really tightens up the whole thing. I know this cuz i also was confussed about the whole thing and when i got my car back from servicing that was the way they put it

I use the two short loops against the front on the bumper area and then I take the other side and look it into the same hooks. That way my trunk is open and there's like a little basket right in the front. It holds my basktball and a bunch of other things really well.

so, basically, it's useless with the design. I had figured as much, but hoped for more. This cargo net will not hold my clubs, suitcases, etc. in place.

oh well, life goes on.

I am going to play with it a bit more tomorrow, try all your methods, and see what I come up with. Will let you all know if I find a reasonable method.

guys, no offense but this is not brain surgery.

I have the two smallers loops on each side of the net hooked up to a hook, and the same on the other side (the loop in the middle is not connected), so it forms like a cradle shape where i can keep my car stuff, windix/wax/leather cond.etc...etc....

It is not designed for big things, just for small things that can be loose, so this prevents those small things from being loose around the trunk area.

There are black knobs on the floor deck that you loop the ends around to secure smaller stuff with. Put what ya want in the trunk, then put the net over it and pop the loops over the knobs. Its usefull for me, when I go fishing, to keep my tackle box from sliding around the trunk. The hooks on the fender walls and trunk deck are cool for making the hanging basket setup, but unless you are transporting a dozen eggs and a loaf of bread it isnt very handy.
