Post Carbon Fiber

One of the new things new parts available for our TL, which I showed at the meet, is the Carbon Fiber kit, with the stock trim pieces done to match.
Now I am still working on getting these stock pieces done (which by the way will be for the 99-02 TL and Types and 2001-2002 CLP/CL-S) so I am not sure how it will work yet as far as how there made or price.

What do you think looks better on my car, the whole kit

or just the stock pieces in the CF ?

And the kit is not istalled, it is just laying on there, so if you see pieces sticking out or not align, that is why

HOLY $HIT!!!!!!!!

THIS IS JUST WANT I WANTED!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I think the whole kit is pretty good. But would rather have the stock pieces in CF and have aluminium kit for the rest...

Do you have those pieces for the door panel?

Honestly, I think only the CF kit in stock piece just don't seem "complete" yet with the whole CF kit it look somewhat cheesy... So that's why I want to have the combo (CF/Aluminium)

That's not over the wood trim, is it? if it replaces the trim, I'd consider it.... Obviously I'm sure the parts around the radio, climate control etc.. is taped on over the black plastic(in an ebony int. car), am I right? if it's the way I said and it fits perfect, count me in!

I may consider thiis, if there is a way to do the door panels, too, I have access to the wood trim itself, but the OEM side pieces I have no idea how to do or where to get em, I guess your the man Tim.

I hate carbon fiber, but I think the whole kit looks best. It looks tight.

The stock pieces had to be sent in to the manufacture, and I Just got the s console pieces back and they are doing the 4 door piece as well
I have to find out how this will be done, if they will be molded pieces or something I have to send them stock on and do one at a time. Hoping for them to be molded, because the door panels are not easy to get off.
The CF kit is available now (same pieces as the wood kit I sell) but this completes the look, because without a way to do the stock pieces, there was no need to offer it
I will know more on Tuesday and post.
Will be added to the site as soon as I get the green light

I would love to replace just the factory fake wood. I've been waiting for a post like this!

I was just thinking, I guess I'd have a Burlwood shifter for sale if I got this though... damn, I like that knob

tim,
that looks great. You sent in your factory pieces. is there a way to get the stock pieces switched to real wood from the same company. I would be intersted in that conversion.

PLEEEASSSEEE just make the pieces that cover that AWFUL fake plastic "wood" trim from the factory... do carbon fiber and "aluminum" even if it's fake it'll look better than that $hit from teh factory

Would that company do REAL WOOD replacements for the factory crap??
Considering I dont have my car yet... I dunno whether I'll end up with Parchment or Black interior.... and as the guy before me said I don't think parchment would look that good with CF

Tim,

At the start of your message you said the CF was ONE of the new products for the TL you are working on. WHAT ARE THE OTHERS?

Question

for all of us with parchment/tan interiors. what if they could use that same design/pattern, or even make a diff pattern , and incorporate it into a light wood color or burlwood. though i think a lighter wood would look better! how many would be interested? kman156

well it certainly looks better than the "bowling ball" look (to me anyway), I would still have rather seen it in just a plain black ebony.

I would do it if it was real CD not the faux type, and probably on to replace all of the stock pieces. Someone above had an interesting thought with the combo CF and aluminum trim, but I would need to see it first and they both need to bee real ie. aluminum and carbon fiber.

just my $0.02

Thank you for posting the picks and your continued dedication to the TL and TL-S.

I'll pay anything for those CF pieces. I have been waiting for so long for Snook to come up something like this!

IMHO: The whole kit is a bit overwhelming, especially since the carbon fibre patterns don't match up exactly.
I would do the stock pieces and then maybe the door control/ashtray panels and the rear cup holders in CF or aluminum. Would also be killer if you could do the Acura gauge cluster http://www.autocarparts.com/search/i...ID=386&vehID=0
in CF.
How tough is it to remove those door panels??

i like the carbon fiber thing. however, it just look weird for our car in my own opinion. i believe the aluminium will look much better (just as the new 2003 cls). hope i can get one of those in the near future.

I like the cf on the stock pieces only look. I'd be willing to buy them. Btw, what is the interior color of your car?
Thanks,

Tim,

What material did you use for the carbon fiber? Was it that Avery-brand overlay? And what was the coating that the company did to the pieces?

Hey Tim!

I've been asking about the CF trim Pattern for a while now... I have purchased the kit a while back and installed in the car and they look great,,, but now that I have changed my whole headunit i need a custom piece,,, how would I get this done? Or should I request a small sheet of the CF sheet from the manufacture that are doing these pieces for us? Could you please inform me,,, my new head unit has been NAKED for some time now!!!

Thanks!
