I was on my way to Atlantic City this weekend to see Chappelle (Extremell funny) when I stopped to get gas… left the accessories on b/c my girl was riding with me, filled up, picked up some extra cash from the ATM, paid the attendant and was about to bounce… except the car wouldn’t start! I got a jump and rolled to my parents house! I cleaned the terminals, and everything was fine. My car has started 5 times since then, however I noticed that my auto-window no longer works… could disconnecting the battery / jumping have screwed up my electrical system? Also, any guesses on how long the battery lives??? I need to get it replaced wondered if anyone had some suggestions on what type to get?

 

It'd help if you indicated what year car you have or how old your battery is.

4 to 5 years old and you'd better be looking for a new one.

Press and hold the window down till the bottom and hold for 3 seconds, then pull it up and hold it till the top for another 3 seconds. Now you should have auto up and down

Optima is the premier battery going right now. The window deal, and probably the memory for the seats (if it has it) was caused by the very low, if no, current to keep that part of the memory going. Check to see if the radio's presets are still there.

 

yeah, i disconnected the ground terminal to clean the corrosion which botched my radio.... seats were fine though....

 

I think there is just a virus going around, from TL to TL, causin them to stall, sputter, and die. Sorry folks, I think mine originated this problem!

it is a terrorist ploy, they inserted a chip into our TL's and they are testing it today!!
