Car stuters at 5500 RPM?
Off and on now when i get on my car, and i am climbing toward redline, when i reach 5500 rpm the car lets off the gas completely then gets back on it all byitself, it happens very quickly in about a second. What the hell is going on, i dont think it is the tranny since its not shifting and i have a 99 and our trannys are not that bad. So whats up?

Are you sure it's not 4800, instead of 5500?
The reason being is that it sounds like vtec isn't kicking in. A couple reasons could equate to this. One is that you might have low oil.

sounds like a possible vtech engagement issue, possibly a coil pack issue
