Car still shaking...

So i get back from autozone after the employee sees that i have misfirings. I go and get all the spark plugs changed but the car is still shaking badly. Anyone know what else might be the problem? Also, when i'm driving on the highway, is the rpm supposed to be at 3500 when i'm cruising at 80? I thought to myself, that's not normal is it?

your converter might be gone, 80mph at 3500 is way way high.what codes did u pull?

Most likely a bad coil pack. Have them tested one by one, reseting the CEL light between each test.

Please don't tell me it was Autozone's idea to replace ALL of the spark plugs...

And my car is at about 2500rpm at 80.

my cl-s6 is at 3k at 80mph. and i thought that it was gonna be lower then my auto.

did you replace the plugs with the correct NGK Iridium IX or NGK Platinum?

anything else is the WRONG plug in the TL- very picky ignition systems

A multiple cylinder misfire code is usually 1 failed coil- you have to buy 1 and try it on each cylinder until the car runs right--$50
Must reset the engine computer each time so it runs a fault test program
To do that- find fusebox inside passenger area- footwell or edge or dash-
fuse #13 iirc is marked CLOCK and is the secret backup power to the ECU-
pull that fuse for a minute and reinsert- start car
running better- you found the bad coil- not better? move new coil to next cyl-reset ecu-...
what does zone say it reads out after the plug change

coils are easily damaged when handled- like lightbulbs- fragile inside

I always just pull each coil pack out till i hear nothing, then I know which one is bad. I have never reset the ecu after each pull and have never had a problem, iv had to replace 3 since i owned my car.

You probably have a coil pack thats bad. Misfiring on these cars is usually just one coilpack. Only way to know is to buy 1 and start out on 1 cyl and drive, if it continues to do so is take it out and move to the next cyl till you find the bad one.

yep, its close to 750 rpm higher than the auto

Where do u live at?

I will fix it for u if you are in north NJ..
I have a couple extra coils i got for $40 + shipping.
So if its only 1 coil i'll fix it 4 u for alot cheaper then any dealer or autozone will, and I WILL FIX IT!
It is deff a coil pack i had the same prob about a month ago!

Yeah comming back from AC cruise on 85MPH was at around 2500RPM's!

That probl. works if it's an outright failure but may not if it's intermittent such as under a load, different rpms, etc. Just an thought.

according to those with a TL and the coil problem:

you MAY be able to detect which coil by pulling its connector and the engine changes its running or it stays the same.
the error codes might even list the actual bad coil- 1 of 3 or 4 listed~
BUT
Unless you have a total coil failure thats not the best way, ON a TL

resetting the ecu is important when done too- so the car relearns how its running right

Might want to run seafoam or bg product thru gas and intake to remove the carbon loading/buildup from weak ignition to a cylinder-

the days of old and the way things should be done today are vastly different
For me- the TL gets the royal treatment when it needs it

and this is exactly why you have replaced 3 coil packs

BUT not all coilpacks die like that. In fact the majority throw the code with little to know engine issue, so doing your method will do nothing and why i mentioned to clear the code and drive around to get it to come back on! (or not)

Coils packs go it happens, doing my method im positive was not the cause for the other 2 to go out. I could understand if they went out months after replacing them, but it was years before the next one went out, and years after the 3rd went out. It has also been almost 2 years since I replaced the last one. If I happen to have to replace another one while I own my car I will be sure to do it the proper way.

There have been many members who did their own methods and replaced 3 coils or even all 6 when only 1 was needed

Seperate time failures dont count for this situation

Just remember that the ECU throwing a code as its detecting a misfire doesnt mean that one of the coilpacks no longer works. Often times they work fine and your method doesnt work.

I had this problem about a month ago i even posted and u guys helped out alot..
My car was shaking BAD would not go over 50MPH without feeling like it was gonna shake into peices. The codes it threw were P0302, p0304,p0305, p0300 and p1399.
The first 3 being misfires in cylinder 2,4,5 and p1399 is random misfire. I have no clue what p0300 is though.. the cylindes in my car are..

The cylinders fire 1-4-2-5-3-6 so first i chaged coil pack for cylinder 4 becuz that one fires first and started the car and bingo no codes car runs great..
coil pack 4 being bad was also causing 2 and 5 to throw codes so get the codes and replace the coil that fires first!

damn, I am reading this post for the first time and right now I am at the dealership waiting for my car to be "diagnosed". It sounds like I have this same exact problem. I usally do all my own work but in the interest of time I just came here this morning.

Question: Is there an oem coil pack? or just any old one?

Daaaamn ;-) $255 for 1 bad coil at Acura dealership. I could have bought a coil for $50 and had this fixed myself.

This site has tought me soo much and saved my soo much money..
I'm keeping this care forever cuz I pretty much know everything about it and how to fix everything on this car. As long as the tranny holds up I'll keep her anouther 9 years..LOL well i dunno about 9 more cuz i allready had her 4 9 years!
