Car Seat Sliding in the back seat

I am not sure if anyone can be of some help (since I do not know if any of you have kiddos) but my TL has leather seats and my 3 year old daughters car seat slides all over the damn place. I have it in correctly. The seat belt is locked and I have the latch in correctly. Every time I take a sharp turn I hear her go "WHOOOAAA" and her seat has moved a few inches lol

I have the seat protectors to protect the leather and I thought that would help the seat from sliding but its made it worse. Any suggestions?

reminds me of the uhhh hummmm a little help back here!!!! from my kid tipped partially over

Do you have teh seat in the center or one of the sides? (far less movement on the sides) I bought a small floor carpet (one for a house) with the rubber bottom on it. It didnt slip on the leather and protected it from the nice sharp edges from the car seat. and i really sinched the 3 point tether.

If you're using the latch system down between the seats, there is no way the car seat should be moving. You could also use the tether up on the rear deck.

There are two set of latches, one on each side of the center armrest.

I have to use the seatbelt as the 99 didn't have the latch system and neither of my two car seats move around.

What we have done in our cars, and current TL is to buy some of the anti slip material (for drawers, etc) that matches the leather color. Put that under the seat and it will not move! At a car seat safety check they told us about doing this.

If you are using "latch", put both knees into the car seat using your weight and grab a strap on each side and pull --> My son's seat does not move.

If you are using seatbelts, best of luck....I've been unable to get down to the recommended <1" of movement. The "shoulder strap" part of the belt puts a torque on the seat and prevents from cinching down, so I've tried wrapping the belt around itself (like if you were winding a rubber band) to prevent the belt from moving around. You have to get the lengths just right but you can typically generate more down-force on the seat if you eliminate the effect of the shoulder strap.

Although I agree the side locations should provide less movement, if you only have 1 child the safest places is obviously in the center.

We use the seat protector that is sold at Babies R Us. Not only does it protect the leather from the edges of the car seat but it also stops it from sliding around.

I think the maker is Prince lionheart and it comes in 2 or 3 colors to match the interior. We have one in each car.

If your car isn't equipped with the LATCH system and are therefore using the shoulder/lap belt, I hope you are using one of these.

Thread should be posted in O/T but we'll keep it here for awhile.

Thanks for all the advice. I did not realize the latch system was under the seat as well. I will try that first. If that doesnt work I will get some kind of anti slip thing from Target or somewhere.

Thanks

And if that doesn't work, try a different car seat.

Also, you local Police department or Fire Dept should be able to show you how to correctly install the seat, which is no movement.
This is your child's safety here, get the experts to show you how to do it, and quickly please.

we have the lionheart thing under ours, and use the clip thing that lawaia has pictured, she still moved a bit, so what we did was have me push down on the carseat (hard) while my wife adjusted the slider clip and then buckled it in (very tight)

seat does not move a millmeter now, even with my wife driving

if you're using the seatbelt only, then try this. Buckle the carseat in normally with the seat protector or whatever. After that, tug the seatbelt until it extends fully, then let it retract and let it retract as much as possible. This will lock the seatbelt and the carseat should move a lot less.
