Car Performance

For those who have high miles on there TL's

My friend told me on our cars when we hit 80,000 and above, the car will feel as if it has more power

is that true.

I have 43k on mine and it still feels like day one when i drove it out the lot

If anything, engines lose power as they age. 40,000 miles is prime-of-life for this engine, though, or so it seems.

Last time i ran mine at the strip, my car with 170+k on it was faster than when it had 25k.

Hondas are known to get faster with age but having to wait till 80k isnt correct

Most cars will run faster after some mileage compared to new.. check out any long-term car review by Car and Driver and you'll see... they do a re-test on the track after the car accumulates a good amt. of mileage, and the results almost always show an improvement in times.

I believe this to be true for our cars. before I had any mods around 90-95k my car felt faster then when I bought it w/60k, now it's a lot faster and will be even faster once i get these pulleys on.

Yes, once things get broken in there is less friction internally to rob HP.

I have almost 118k now, I was saying before I modified my car it felt like it was getting faster. I started modding it at around 90-95k.

hmm not bad.. I was tellin my cuzin that since i had 114K on my motor, i sed that it prob has 200 HP.. instead of 260... I dunno my car hauls ass but, i dunno.. How does that make sense... "Higher miles make you go faster?"

If thats the case, they should sell brand new cars out the factory with 60K...

^^ Because brand new, the car isn't broken in yet. I'm sure that with a LOT of miles, your car would actually be slower. And the reason they don't sell new cars with 60k miles on them is for obvious reasons:
1) The amount of time and resources it'd take to break in a car or its motor in 60k miles.
2) The fact that 60k miles on the motor means 60k miles closer to breaking down.

I read somewhere that 100,000 miles was the equivalent (wear-wise) as 24 hours of the engine being held at red-line. Not sure if there was any truth in that whatsoever

15.017 is really fast for a TL-P with 170+k miles. Is your TL stock?

No resonators, comptech exhaust, loud tip inserts (baisicly straight pipes) Port and polish intake, K&N filter, no intake resonators 225/55/16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. AND most important of them all was the Comptech Sport STICKER
