this car is like a bulletproof vest

let me preface this with a KNOCK ON WOOD!!! But this car is amazing, it's bulletproof. I've had my '03 tl-S for almost 11 months now with a little over 19k miles on it. Overall my driving style is fairly docile I usually only get into vtec maybe 4-6 times a week at varying speeds. However, sometimes I do drive hard, accelerating and cornering. I've dogged the tranny a couple of times leaving it in SS mode and going 50-60mph in 2nd gear. Plus I've braked suddenly on several occasions from 70Mph-ish to a crawl. ON top of that i've hosed the brakes (washing the car) and thought i messed up the rotors when I saw steam evaporating...
In spite of all that the car is a marvel, truly rock solid (knock on wood) and I love it. I am truly sorry to all those who have had major problems with their cars...

quick question though - for those of you who had tranny replacemtents, were your tranny's dying? were their signs that it was on it's way out?
with me, my tranny has a major hiccup every 3-4 weeks without any problems in between, any reason to be concerned?

thanks for letting me share...

When you RPM goes straight up and you are not going anywhere, then your tranny just crapped. Trust me, you'll know when that happens. Good luck with your ride.

How is it you put up the $$ for an awesome vehicle and not take care of it? I don't know about anyone else but besides the occasional quick launch I take very very good care of my car. I put a lot of $$ into it and I would die if anything happened to her. Take care of your car and it will take care of you!

I still don't understand the whole "bulletproof vest" analogy. You saying your car is hot, uncomfortable and expensive? Or is it something to do about the fact that there is no such thing as a bullet-PROOF vest?

hehe, I put a lotta money in the TL, I drive it the way it's supposed to be driven... like it's stolen... that's where I get my driving pleasures from...

clarify

whoops, guess I wasn't too clear, topic should've been 'bulletproof" but I didn't know how to change it....

2. I have tons of fun with my car but baby it very nicely. Ask my friend and g/friend they all say I'm crazy how much I finick over anything with my car. I even take the longer route home to avoid some nasty roads. I refuse to go through streets w/ speed bumps.

I drive the car hard sometimes on purpose and once in awhile do something stupid but bottom line, I lve that car and want to be owning it for awhile.

I take the time to wash her by hand even though I suck at the process, just to give her some TLC.
