Depends on where you take it. I have an 03 CL-S 6MT with XS headers and an intake and I have no problems with MA inspection. I have 2 buddies with comptech exhaust and they both pass as well as someone who went to Lou's Custom Exhaust on Rt 1 and they pass emmissions as well.

i dont think the people who do inspection really know if the exhaust is modified ... do they? and why would it fail inspection with an aftermarket exhaust?

i like the sound of that. i remember when i had civics and integras. no shop would pass it with an aftermarket exhaust. been thinkin bout addin an exhaust but the sticker is the only thing stoppin me. how is the sound from your exhaust? i'm trying to stay away from the ricer noise. prefer a nice humming sound.

as long as u have a cat converter, i dont see why they wont do it for u

u need a cat, for emission reasons. if u take that out, they wont pass u no matter what, and u prob wont pass anyways

Why dont you stop by the inspection place and ask them whats legal.?

As others said= as long as it meets noise limits, anything rear of the cat should be ok, just dont touch anything ahead of there! Some replacement brand cats are ok-

Different rear mufflers- no big deal , certain different hi flow cats- also ok!,
keep the paperwork that says CARB legal, will have a metal plate on headers with same info. That means it has passed California Air Resource board test (optional and expensive for the parts maker to get certified, but worth it), wont negativly impact smog output of car, and is legal in 50 states

Could fail for noise levels or emmissions. Unless you are at a inspection station that really wants to bust your chops, you should be fine.

well, speaking from experience, in MA no shop will LEGALLY pass you with aftermarket exhaust. the rules say stock exhaust must be on the car. im from western mass, and ive tried 5 different shops, ranging from big garages to ghetto ones. my problem is my exhaust look aftermarket theyre round cans. those comptechs may look like stockies to the untrained eye, so maybe thats why they passed for others. so ya, pretty much, if they look aftermarket, they prbly will not pass you. but with comptechs and i think the tananbes, which look kinda like stock, you have a chance

haha then again, you could always try slipping in some extra $$
