car cover questions

hey there...

i'm going on deployment towards the end of this month and i'm leaving my vehicle at the navy exchange long term storage. i'll be gone 5-7 months and i'm looking into purchasing a car cover. i like oem stuff so i gave acura a call, they want $259. that's not a problem, i wouldn't mind paying that, but the associate in parts told me that they were designed for more of an indoor storage. so i did a search and a lot of people are recommending covercraft, i called up one of their dealers and he said that he does not have any covers that he would recommend because leaving the cover on for 5-7 months without washing it would cause mold/mildew and he couldn't really help me out. i just don't want my car to sit outside during the summer and have my paint baked in the sun, and i'd like my interior to be preserved. any ideas?

hey bro where they sending you?
i bought a $60 cover from walmart and i left my car for over a year during basic and tech school and a few months while i was at my first base. everything was just fine. the cover was ratty but nothing a wash in the washing machine and hanging out in the yard to dry couldnt fix. my car was parked in an ease-way between two garages my uncle would check every few days to make sure the damn thing didnt blow away.

Try to find the OEM cover online cheaper. But def get an OEM cover. Fits perfect and doesn't scratch when used correctly.

not sure yet. my squadron is attached to uss eisenhower so wherever they need us. whether it be med sea, persian gulf, indian ocean, hell off the coast of somalia, i do not know haha.

but yeah, i'd love to get an OEM cover. i like the idea of it saying acura and i hear nothing protects better than the OEM. the dealer had just told me that its not for outside use wtf???

I don't understand how the OEM cover could not be used for outdoor use...If absolutely necessary you could always cover your car with the OEM cover and then throw a construction grade tarp over top to keep nearly all contaminants off the cover.

Just a thought...
