How do you drive your TL?

I'm curious to see how everyone drives their TL during the every day commute.

I see alot of people in the 2G section are 17-30 years of age. With the TL becoming very affordable, I see alot of college kids with them. I just want to see how everyone drives their TL?

How old are you? (Optional)

TL-P or TL-S?

How often do you use VTEC?

Etc. etc.

Just tell us about your daily drive. I'll start...

I drive about 30 miles each day depending on what I have to do that day. I usually cruise at about 60mph on the average two lane road. On the highway, I usually run 70-75. Everyone goes slow it seems, so I pass quite often. I love the way VTEC and the engine sound. I love it when its cold out (65-45 degrees), I cruise around 55 with the heater set on 90, seat heater on HI, sunroof open, jamming to whatever is good.

What about the rest of the 2Gers?

unintentionally, but almost never.

90% city driving. 30-35mph. My friends say I drive slow. I just don't see why everyone's so in a hurry.

lol @ 45 being cold.

2000 TL-P

I use VTEC sporadically, some days several times, other days not at all.

About 70% city, 30% highway so my mileage suffers. It varies from 17-20 MPG. On the highway I usually cruise around 80 MPH.

TL-p

I use to use v-tec liek crazy when I first got it. Sometimes I like to drive hard but usually i drive mellow. It's much more relaxing.

Mostly city driving but on the highway I do anywhere from 75-95. <You can't really feel it in our cars.

And yeah slushyy i feel you on the engine mods... i got stuck in the snow today in a parking lot and I was gunning the engine in drive to get myself free (which worked) and I had my door open and the sound that comes came from the engine was like music to my ears. I just loved it! I only have a K&N filter on and I could hear it wooshing(?). Can't wait to get my CAI. :orgasmic:

TL-P or TL-S? 99 TL-P

How often do you use VTEC? 3x since august

Etc. etc.

Just tell us about your daily drive.

Basically I need to keep the car till 2013 so I drive it like a little old lady. 5.5 mile commute each way, about 50:50 city/hwy.

I get about 17-18mpg but those 5.5 miles take 25 minutes.

When accelerating I usually keep it below 2500 rpm, sometimes I'll hit 3500 but a lot of the time shift at 2k rpm (slow, prolonged acceleration but higher speed). I try to go ez on the throttle to avoid downshifts (they are VERY hard and I fear for the tranny).

On VERY rare occasion (done with a big test, etc) I'll indulge myself and go fast (floor it, high speed, etc). Damn the push in the back is addicting, esp when vtec hits. In my old car I drove 17k miles last year so for this car my parents have limited me to 7500 per year. In 5 months I've used like 5000 of those so now i've gotta cut back.

How often do you use VTEC?..... i hit it up every time i drive pretty much, but not more than once or twice, and not much past it either.

Just tell us about your daily drive.

about a 40-70 mile day back and forth to vo-tech/school/side jobs. i have the temp set at 61F, heated seat on low if its chilly (below 20F outside) and on high if its cold ( below 10F outside), sunroof open if its sunny (regardless of temp), music turned up all the way with booming bass, 2 lane road around 60ish mph, highway around 75-80ish. i never pass on a 2 lane road uless its deathly slow (like some slow poke going 35mph in a 55mph lane). and i never go over 90 mph unless im racing and i rarely race. i shift around 3k mostly.
In the city i drive normal and always have the music turned up, over all MPG is about 23-25ish. at night i dont speed at all - lots of deer here. over the summer ill be working more (who knows were) and going to collage at night so i could be racking up the miles more.

Talking

I'm 20 years old

I own a Type-S (for good reason)

In the summer I do enjoy flooring it every now and then (vtec and beyond), and sometimes when necessary to pass.

My usual drives are quite short for my work is close and I only have to drive to the bus station and bus to school. While I'm not in university (4 months of the year), I drive about 220 kms every week to work, my friends and various places in Edmonton. While I'm in school it's about the same amount of kms only every two weeks. As you can see I don't drive much.

I bought a car with a V6 for a reason; I picked the TL-S because I wanted that added performance. I make good use of my cars power, but I make sure to keep up on current and preventative maintenance. Nothing but the best for my baby. I do enjoy driving it hard from time to time, but I don't bag on with hard braking and ridiculous turns at higher speeds. And with the TL I absolutely DO NOT use the e-brake for anything other than to relieve the stress on my tranny while I'm parked on an incline.

How often do you use VTEC? Not much, usually just when I need to get around someone on the interstate

Just tell us about your daily drive
I normally have about a 30mile ride to work on the interstate. Usually between 70 and 80, depending on how many soccer moms on cell phones are in my way. Mostly just taking it easy with a little speed. Around town, I try not to be in any hurry. Sometimes I like to feather the gas so that the tranny doesn't have to shift as much or as hard. (guess I'm still kind of freaked out cause I just had to replace it)
I always have something blasting on the stereo!

TL-S

Since getting my new transmission I've hit Vtec 3 times in 1,000 miles. When I just go the car I would drive it like I stole it. I would rip it up on any road that any kind of twist or curve. After dumping $2500 on a new trans and mounts I can say I've learned my lesson.

^ Umm naw dude.. It not nitrous now.. After you accelerate past a certain RPM, the VTEC will automatically engage itself. You will feel a slight more pull.

Recently - not too often. Before last summer - 3 to 5 times a drive

Just tell us about your daily drive.
During school only gets driven a few times a week on short trips, rpms staying pretty low. Out of school maybe 20 miles daily with normal driving (not wreckless) but always passing other cars.

In our cars it kicks in at about 4000rpm and its the same for all of them unless something was changed manually. There could be a slight difference in the -p and -s but i don't think so. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Driving Style: I have 4 professional driving courses under my belt, along with many many years of drag racing and Pro Solo II racing. My personal preference for fun is to put the car in a 4-wheel drift down a curving exit ramp. Pressing the loud pedal is fun, but doesn't require any real skill. Honestly I preferred my old SE-R to the TL. The TL is a bit numb when it comes to exploring the edges of performance, it took me a while to get comfortable with it. Being that my 21-month old son is typically in the back seat I really don't visit the edges of performance very much these days.

edit: grammar

the 94 accord wagon is for speed ironically enough =P

i guess i've used it a few times to remind people with civics that rims and a drop dont give you 75 HP

other then that its ridin smooth

TL-P or TL-S? TL-S, if only I had a manual gearbox.

How often do you use VTEC? Rarely, only when I really need to get on the move. Maybe once a week.

Bella is my daily driver, so about 35 miles a day to and from work, plus any running around after work. I'm almost always within 2-3 mph of the speed limit, and try and drive defensively.

How often do you use VTEC? every time i drive the car

Drive about 35 miles round trip to and from school M-F. 75-85 is my average cruising speed on the freeway, but that doesnt mean i dont let it rip when i can. Love the vtec. the way it sounds, and what it does, its like a shot of nos but not really. used to speed way more, ticket solved that problem. and since i removed my mid muffler, i like cruising the blvd at a nice 2500 rpm to get the nice sound of the pretend exhaust i wish i had. on an average tank ill get 18-20 MPG (sounds low for highway driving but i do take carpool to and from school so add 3 tenth graders in the mix)
