Post This can't be true (read!)

I was driving with 2 of my friends in my car when some red civic rolles next to me and cuts in front of my and presses his brakes to make me brake quick, I guess he was just in the mood to race. Well we hit rt 1 and we both gun it from right off the ramp at about 20mph, he's pulling on me!!! At about 40-50 he stops pulling and i still gain no ground, at about 60-80 I finally start to pull on him and pass him. we run acouple of times and same shit, even at a dead stop he shits on my to about 40mph! Now heres the thing, this civic lookes stock and might be. It had stock exhausts, only thing i heard was a intake or something pretty loud. I had a guy about 250lbs and another guy at about 150 plus me at about 145 so thats 545lbs of dead wieght plus my system in the trunk, i haven't got a oil change in about 6000miles. all i have is intake. he had one other guy in the car and at the most a combined weight of 300-320. Now what the phuck!! Is this possible? A stock civic beat me??? I exit the ramp and the ass hazards me. Its the worst feeling in the world to lose to a civic, especially if that thing was stock. help me guys how can this be?? Make me feel better or something!

Well, the Civic weighs nearly 1000LB less than the TL so thats a large advantage. You still should have beaten it. Maybe they had some secret mods. Remember in "The last starfighter" the alien car could do 300mph.
Don't worry if they do beat you for some wierd reason. You have a much better ride, and if they really piss you off, smash into them to teach them a lesson in humility.

The 99-00 SIs with just intake can run low 15s high 14s. I've seen their timeslips before. They aren't that slow.

I feel ya man, I raced a Civic Si(stock looking exhaust but loud as a mofo, kinda fishy) last wednesday and we were dead even all the way, he had a head start(traffic) so he was ahead of me a bit, I wasn't pulling on him and he wasn't pulling on me. I had a full car (5 people) a little more than 500 pounds of extra weight, and he had one passenger. Weight matters.

Thinking the same as NSX4DR.. engine swap..

bone stock appearance but huge gain in performance.. imagine a civic with an integra gsr vtec engine, my friend has that set up... he loves pulling up to cars and the other car ends up laugh at him cause he's in a civic.. but he ends up having the last laugh.

I don't know...I think they are slow as shit. My buddy has a Civic Si with SC and yes the car is very bursty but by the time I hit 80 in my stock TL I was passing him. He kept shitting on me off the line but once the TL got moving his car was no match in high end. I think cuz the new Si's engine + car weight sucks compared to the 92's Si...they were quick.

1- Your car is much nicer, don't feel bad. If all you wanted was to go fast, then for the cost of a TL you could have bought a Mustang Cobra instead, but you didn't.

2- You can never tell what the guy next to you has under the hood, so be forewarned.

3- All you guys hotrodding and racing TLs are giving the rest of us a bum rap! No wonder all these little bumblebee exhaust cars want to race me!!!

a reason to why you may have lost.

Probably swapped the enigne.
People do put prelude engines in civics...

Whoops, should've read more of the forum..looks like other people had the same idea as me.

Hey, relax... It's a civic. I wouldn't even bother to look at the driver. If he looks at you and revs' up then let it be.
You got an Acura. He's got civic. Just look at him and laugh. If he takes off on you so what. You got an acura. Enjoy your ride. He probably hates the ride he just can't wait the car to die so he can get a nice car like you. Look at him and LAUGH.
I enjoy when someone pulls next to me and tries to race me. I'll just drive normal and enjoy the ride and the scenary.
Just my thoughts.

i too sort of lost otoo a riced out civic and i have a cl-s with flowmastger exasut. this civic flew past me soo fast that he had to be doin like 110, at least
i was doin 85 at the time and had to do like 120 to catch him. Whjen i got close ,i realized he was racin with a rioced out integra and they were both flyuin down the road. IT was like 3am so i let looose too on them. I checked the road ahead and popped into SS and then dropped to 3rd and let there ass hang out to dry. I passed them at 100 or soo and never let them get ahead of me. I couldnt believe these 2 cars thogh, they crused past me like i was a ford fiesta and not a cl-s. Made me reall happy tp spank them after though. U can never tell with civics casue i see them with all sorts of integra parts on them, ****in hondas and acuras are interchangable. THats why i was so apreice in gettin a acura, too afraid someone would steal it for parts. Knock on wood

Webtoker raced an Si in his CLS and he lost. The Si had some horn shaped thing stuck in his intake. No filter or anything, just the horn thing. Kind of interesting. Here is the link:

It could be the Civic SIR which has the 160 horsepower VTEC engine. This car is light and as a result fast. 0-60mph at slightly over 7 seconds.
