it's been done, and in fact there was a post not even a month ago about the full install to make it functional, but it's not cheap, and it's alot of work. But the point is...it can be done. Do a search and you should find it no problem.

Do a search for 'lithiumus' ... he's done the conversion on his TL (before he got the NSX). Having a degree in electrical engineering does help ...

Yea, thats the same thing I want to do.... Just have the navi screen in the car, and use it for DVDs. So technically, all the parts you would need, is....

1. Screen
2. A/C Unit
3. Wireing harness?
4. DVD Player

Keep in mind all 03Silver-S and I want to do is use it for a DVD screen, not full fledged Navi.

then you got it easy because all you need is to run the power to everything and bolt it in. let us know how it goes.

Im going to do it in a week or two. Ive got all the parts(I think) now Im waiting on wheels and tires for my Accord so I can leave my TL in the garage for a few days. It doesnt look that hard but if you dont know how to read a wiring diagram you're going to have trouble. Ill try to do a DIY because I couldn't find one either, just a bunch of threads that said do a search but nothing that actually helped. Ive got a lot going on right now but I really want to get this done so give me a few weeks and maybe I can help you.

www.acuraautomotiveparts.org has all the right parts, i think. do i need the navigation unit to get the screen to work, or can i just by the screen and use a dvd player to control it?

I believe we just need the screen, but I'm almost positive that we will need the wire harness that fits into the screen, and then somewhere along the line splice that into the DVD player. Thats my guess.

I got my screen and nav unit off of ebay for $350 and all my extra stuff from the dealer. We have an Acura dealer at the complex I work at so I got employee prices. Ill post all the prices when I finish, but off the top of my head; instrument cluster bezel, mounting bracket for screen, gps antenna, ac control, assorted hardware, and wire for new harness(from home depot) less than $400 with my discount. If you can get it from a scrapyard go for it, much cheaper.

I make a plug and play navi harness for 99-03 tl's. I had one in the black market forum and no one bought it. I am at work now but I can give you more info later if you wish.
