Can TL-S use the TL-P 5spd tranny?

Hey,

Quick question: Can I swap the tranny from a 2001 TL into a 2002 TL-S? Is it a simple "take out and replace" swap? Or is there other things that need to be considered?

I need some help asap.

Thanks guys!

different years are usually different
ask the parts dept at dealer about cutoff VINs for each year

or a junkyard-auto recycler- they know interchange stuff

because I love this car. Aside from the transmission problem it's a solid car with little to no problems.

And thanks for the tip. Will call the junkyard tmrw morning.

i know 4th and 5th gears are slightly different ratios, which would throw the ecu programing way off (i know there are probably other things, but that is the most apparent one though)

as interpreted, just swap to a 6-speed, IT WILL make you fall in LOVE with your car all over agian (i am swapped, so is assclown)

and yes minus the transmission they are a solid car (minus a couple of other things too, but nothing major though; engine mounts come to mind)

I'm not talking about the car as a whole. Granted I love my car, but I mean why switch from one flawed auto to another flawed auto? Like Matt said go 6spd and be done with it.

lolol

more importantly, not everyone is even remotely mechanically inclined enough to even consider swapping in a 6speed.

I like to think that I know my way around a car a bit, but I would never consider myself proficient enough to put in a 6speed...no matter how BADLY I want one

would you think you can swap a clutch out? if so...., it's basically the same process minus a couple of additional things needed (probably the biggest frustration for me was actually mounting the pedal itself)(wiring you can always pay somebody, and even then i attached richie's harness to my boomslang adapter harness, which let me minimize the hacking of the stock harness)
