alright people, i have this friend and hes always picked on me because of my car( i used to drive a 1993 corolla) now i have a 1999 TL and he wants to race me. I know for a fact that i am a better driver but he claims that he is pushing 500 hp and his mods are "18 g ball bearing turbo. evolution 7 motor. front mount intercooler. with exhaust. hearders new cam shaft. and 16 psi. but i have a boost controol i cna make 22 psi" according to him. is this all BS do these things add up? because i seriously dont think you can do all this to a 2nd gen Eagle talon. Please give me advice on how to call his bluff(if there is one) or how to even the odds. thanks -phee

500hp is bull, if hes really running a evo 7 4g63 with a 18g turbo, especially since the evo 8 4g63 is alot better and is alot easier to get/cheaper then a jdm evo vii engine, and they run a bigger 20g turbo running around 23psi and make around 278whp.

bs but i think he'll have enough to pull on your 99 espcially since the TSi is awd. your best bet is doin a 25 roll. drivetrain loss is your favor.

i honestly doubt hes swapped, because thats a pretty intensive swap since the whole engine is reversed.

did he just do a motor swap or a full engine bay swap, tranny and all. cause thats the only way it would work. an evos motor faces the opposite direction than a talons so hed have to swap out a lot of shit..but ive seen talons kill vettes and evos before just youtube it and see.

yea off the role maybe you may have a chance but of the start NO WAY. My friends stock TSI keeps with a twin turbo 300zx up untill 120km or so then 300 takes him. but thats bprety impressive concidering the 80-90 hp difference

damn...looks like im going to have to backdown from his challenge. id rather listen to him boast rather than give me shit about kicking my ass. Back to the drawing board to conjure up some mods for speed. I really didnt buy this car for racing though, just wanted to look fast haha

eagle talons may not be able to reach the 500 hp mark, but they can be INCREDIBLY FAST if they've got the proper mods w/ appropraiate tunning. i say don't race

yea real fast lol look up on youtuve some talons, I am not sure the name of the video but its a black talon with a eclipse back bumper I think and no spoiler, that thing is running 9s low 10s with 550hp I think. now thats some sick shit. too bad they are so unreliable and you always have to be at the mechanic dishing out cash

hahaha I know they are unreliable cuz one of my best friends has one, and first his turbo went so he too it to the mech to change that and then it stayed there since may and he still didnt get it back.they kept finding problems and stuff.SO... 12gs later he still didnt get the car back but apparently his engine got bored out to 2.2 or 2.4 liter, new turbo with all the goods necessary to make it to 450awhp.and the thing is he isnt rich at all, just bank loans and visa.so I am thinking he is prety much f****d, but its his choice. I think its a waste tho

500hp definately possible but I doubt this particular car is making anywhere close to that. Either way, all it takes is turning the boost up a hair to give the TL lots of trouble. Intake, downpipe and exhaust and you're history. I ran into one with big cams, frontmount, big turbo, etc and it happened to be one of the rare occasions I was on regular 91 octane. He was on 100 and I only won by 3 cars. Waaay too close.

they can easily go way over the 500 benchmark, but his friend is probably just full of it.

I hate cars

Pretty much my thoughts. Although it's not easy. I watched my friend get into the 10s in his AWD DSM and 11s in his FWD, and it was much more difficult than the internet would have you believe. Both of us with "10 second combos" ran 12s our first times out and it took both of us nearly a year's worth or runs to run the magic number.

Problem is, just like most factory turbo cars it only takes a very small amount of mods to make 50% more power. I got smoked just the other day in my 06 TL by a friend's Eclipse with the boost turned up. It wasn't one of those races where if I got a better start, or reacted quicker I could've won. He put 4 cars on me pretty quickly. I had beat the same car by 2 cars when it was at stock boost levels.
