Can I still stay?
Today is both a sad and happy day for me.
I am no longer a TL owner, but I just hooked up with a real sweet Audi A6 3.0
Here's the story. A few weeks ago my lease is up on my 2000 and I was ready to buy it out as this was the best car I ever owned, and I've had many! After looking at the new payment, I realized it would be a better move to just lease an '03 - so off to the dealer I go and make a deal on an '03 TL-S. The next day the dealer gives me a song and dance about how they can't do the deal because they can't take back my old car until after May (long story).
Anyway I reside myself to the fact that I have to hang out until May to get an '03. Well this past weekend I dropped by the local Audi dealer just to check things out. I had no intentions of buying anything - just looking around. The salesman and I got to talking and one thing led to another and before you know it I'm test driving an A6 4.2. All I can say is WOW. I am completely blown away, but the 53 grand price tag brought me down to earth real quickly. So he shows me the 3.0 with a more realistic price tag (42 grand) and we take a spin in that car. Yes it's a bit more tame, but in no way is it a dog either. 30 valve six banger with 220 horse. The luxury amenities pick up where Acura leaves off and I am just about sold. He runs some killer numbers by me knowing my situation. I guess he figures he has a serious buyer on his hands who is ready to roll with the right number. 300 bucks over invoice and a monthly nut within 10 bucks of the TL-S. I say where do I sign?
Any other ex-TL owners still hang out here?

Yeah, I've had my TL-S for 2.5 weeks now, but I test drove exactly the car you are considering -- the A6 3.0. It is a very luxurious vehicle with a great ride and a truly great transmission. I couldn't justify the extra 10 or 12 grand over the TL-S though, especially since it has 40 fewer HP. Plus, I got scared away from German cars by the repair cost horror stories. For you, if you get a good lease, this is a non-issue. I plan on keeping my car for at least 6 years.

I have the Garmin Street pilot that works extremely well. In some respects it is more superior than the Acura navi. I have another thread on here somewhere with pics in my TL. I'll try to dig it up...

The Audi is a 4 year lease with all maintenance included down to the wiper blades, so I am real comfortable with that aspect.
You are right on with the Audi tranny. The Audi tiptronic is fully manual where the Acura takes over first gear. The sport mode is what gives this car the real edge on the Acura tranny

The TL is still in my opinion an amazing car. My TL has left the A6 a tough legacy to live up to. I'm still on the honeymoon

i was kinda surprised at the price of the audi a6 3.0... i thought it was ~45k, but i just priced it and it has edmunds TMV of 37,479 with the premium package & bose stereo. wish i could make more money and afford a 40k after tax vehicle.... i gotta stick to 30k after tax for now

Three Wheelin'
Maintenance is not that much for 30k... all you really have to do is rotate the tires, and change the oil. You don't have to do the 30k service either. Let them do it when they take back the car.

There might have been a few dollars left in each deal, but the overall big picture made the Audi option a no brainer for me.
Another consideration was the fact that I've been in the TL for three years so some sort of "change" was kinda cool.
I also was thinking about the pending 04 TL release. If I went with the 03 TL, I might have been bummed out in a few months. But with the Audi I can feel a little better if the 04 TL is kick ass.
I actually hope the 04 TL is a highly desireable car as it will give me something to look forward to
