Can I be a part of the broken tranny family
My tranny went this morning on the way to work.
At the worst place too - I take this highway to work that has no entrance ramps. Just an intersection with a stop sign. Stop, go and try to outrun a wolfpack of semis barrelling down on your rear at 70-80 mph.
So I stop, go... there is no go... there is a little go and the engine is screaming but there is no usual sensation of strong acceleration. Then something catches while the engine is at redline, then whatever was catching lets go... then it catches again...
I was able to drive to work but I had to feather the gas pedal in order to avoid these weird shifts.

Oh well, sorry to hear that.
Keep us posted, and give us your VIN!
I guess the only good thing about the Tranny Failure is that you can still drive the car somewhat, so you are not stuck in traffic, dead.

What year is your car Ruski? My tranny is going also, Acura ordered me a new one even though my old one is still running. I have a 99 & it was bought in Dec. My car jerks & even shut off on me one day.

my car jerks while going into 3rd sometimes, and its a nasty jerk, it never used to happen i havent had the car for a year yet, almost though, i have 31000 miles, and the car also shut off on me before. Acura told me the transmission fluid flush would fix this, have an apt for the service, shud i be worried?

dammit, it looks like mine is starting to go... confirm please:
1. Stopped at light. Light changes, regular acceleration, car lurches at start then lurches into second gear
2. Does this 3 times on the way to work.
3. Doesn't do it now that it has warmed up.

Sorry to hear about your tranny... this is a distinct group that I hope I never have to join...
Does anyone know when the warantee is void for getting a replacement tranny at Acuras cost?
15,000 miles?
30,000 miles?
That would suck if you are right over where the cut off is...

first of all, please call me RUSKI as in RUSSKI
I don't think I did anything that would break a tranny. I just drove it normally like anyone else would. I did not peel out, I did not torque brake, I did not do any neutral drops.
I drive all my cars the same. For some reason my Grand Prix GTP, Buick Riviera and Chrysler 300M's trannies did not break during the whole 3-year lease period, weird huh?

Okay Rusky
Calm down, no one is blaming you for messin up the tranny.
The tls is known for tranny failures, its just that if you decide to drive aggresively, ie. racing cops are you have indicated in your other thread, it will break down faster.:p

Hey Tranny Guys! I've posted an inquriry about engine probs and got liitle response. Aparently, the "S" engine has been pretty reliable. Too bad for me! I have MAJOR engine probs!! (3,000 miles) My question is how has Acura/your dealer worked with you? I'm being stoned walled big time by Acura, and dealer just wants to make more $ and sell more things! I'm trying to work through their channels, but Acura is refusing to do anything but repair. (they have had it 3 weeks, and I don't even know if they can) They have been REAL anti customer service and very RUDE! I plan on taking this all the way, but am interested in any wxperience you guys have had. (I won't use your experience in my dealings with them) Thanks for any help.
Another VERY disapointed TL S buyer!

I'm lurking over here from ACL.com, and I can't believe the number of tranny issues you TL owners are having. I have an '02 CL-S with 2600 miles on it (bought Dec. '01). I'm just waiting for mine to go.

Good luck getting your transmission...I am behind a guy who has been waiting 3 weeks for his transmission. The dealer says they cannot get an update from Acura. I called Acura 4 days ago, and they turn inquiries over to 'case' workers who claim to respond within 3 days. When I didn't get a response, I call back and find out that the case worker handling this 'issue' is out of the office until next Tuesday, could I call back then?
