Question Can I get rid of this??

can i get rid of this tube and replace it with one of those little breather filters where the circle is? will it affect anything? what exactly is it for? the tube goes into the valve cover.

im getting a 6 speed p2r intake made because i removed my vsa already and i wanted to tell Sean not to put in that nipple so it'll look cleaner

any info is appreciated

thats the PCV crankcase ventilation--there is pressure inside the lower end of the engine thats released,, along with partially unburnt fuel and oil vapors,,routed back to the intake pipe and thru the intake manifold for reburning

Removal would allow vapors into the air, the aftermarket type filter part just catches the oil
Not legal in smog test states

I'm running a breather (small filter) now. No problems. If ur state opens ur hood of emissions u will fail. But if they just hook up tpo the obd2 port. U will be in the clear. I caped off the hole in the intake tube so all is good. U also have one of those hoses in the back.

No. A breather there is basically doing the same thing as hooking it to the intake. Its allowing it to vent.

that PCV is why you have to clean the TB throttle/air plate--its blowing an oily mess onto the metal surface and pivot pin.

Some carb cleaner takes care of that problem, and lube the throttle mechanism while you are there

I see, I see. Well I just cleaned my entire IM, EGR and TB a few weeks ago so I guess I should put in that catch can asap! Thanks guys

since we're on the subject, where does the hose on the other side of the intake go to?

Where can I get a breather? And do you have to empty it every now and then, or how does that work?

Are they a generic size, or are they model specific? Do you by any chance have a link with price?

Okay, I found on online that is made by APC, and sold at advance auto. But is there different sizes, or is it one size fits all?

but it is one MORE thing to maintain/keep clean, also by doing that filter you are more likely to smell oil/exhaust/fuel fumes, etc. etc, because all that crap won't be reburned by the engine (my 4 cents)
