Camber kit needed?

Well, i recently dropped my car with H&R sport springs two weeks ago and yesterday i got an alignment. The alignment people said that my car desperately needs a camber kit because the wheels are still too curved. I did alot of research before i lowered my car and everyone said that a camber isn't needed. They said that the camber kit is going to cost 500-600 dollars! The guy said that my rear tires are gonna wear out first and that i would probably have to replace my tires every six months. An thoughts on this? Did anyone else experience this problem?

$500-$600?! WTF? ... I ordered an SPC Camber kit for my car and it cost $320 ...

You can get both parts from www.iapdirect.com

They dont have the site setup properly for our cars, so just search for the part numbers you need (got the part #s from
http://www.spcperformance.com/PerfAp...pps_Acura.html )

For a 1.5" drop or less its Part # 67125 for the fronts and 67090 for the rears.

For a 1.5" drop to a 3.0" drop its Part # 67320 for the fronts and same part # for the rears.

Dunno how much it will cost to install ... But you can always try to do it yourself too.

Do i really need a camber kit or can i get away with not buying one? It's just that i told my dad i wouldn't need a camber kit and he would get pissed if he knew that i needed one. I mean i pay for my own mods but he warned me not to drop it. Plus, I don't have any cash for a camber....

ColdFusionTL, did they say the front or rear? I have yet to see a camber problem in the front(spring drop...tiens is another story). I've done over 30 drops on the TL's and only a few had a camber problem in the rear. Of course im one of them Do you have a system in your trunk? Look on ebay for a rear camber kit roughly 80 bucks, a shop shouldn't charge you more then an hr to install it. **Tip*** you can get the back bolt out by taking the front one(behind the rotor) out first. Its a tight fit but can be done.
coupe
PS stand behind your car looking down the side of it. If you have a camber problem you will see the top of the tire tucked inside the wheel well.... anything more then 1 degree will wear out tires and is noticable by the human eye.

You'll definitely need a camber kit on the rear, my tires were shot within about 6 months. Depending on the drop you shouldn't need a front kit.

3.41 l 3.41 l 1.80 3.80
0.00 l -0.22 l -0.08 0.08
. . . . l . . . . l -8.05 -4.05
Front:
0.41 l 0.42 (cross camber)
0.17 l 0.17 (cross caster)
0.00 l -0.57 l -0.16 0.16 (total toe)
Left rear:

WOW...I have the same drop and after my alignment every thing was fine except I had a small amount of toe in the rear...I think the guy who did your alignment is a tard.

I don't need a camber kit by any means.

YES. Here's what you have.

Left rear:
-1.29 l -1.27 l -1.00 0.00 (camber)
0.09 l 0.15 l 0.00 0.16 (toe)
Right rear:
-1.55 l -1.53 l -1.00 0.00
0.09 l 0.14 l 0.00 0.16

Rear camber should be between 0.00 and -1.00, your left is -1.29 and the right is -1.55, both out of spec. You can look forward to excelerated tire wear without a rear camber kit.

I too have the H&R Sports and I also needed a camber kit. It was around $180 for the rear, and all I needed was the rear... fronts were fine.

what applications are the shim kits or spacers good for. seems like a much cheaper alternative to a camber kit. pros? cons?

You definatley need camber adjustment for the rear after a drop. I posted on this a couple of weeks ago. I didnt know and blew 4 Potenza S-03's in less then 10000 miles. Get them its the safest way to go. Much cheaper than buying new rims and tires. Also Tim sells them here, thats where I got mine and they were less than 200. Great price and I always get excellent customer service!

Spacers I thought were used for spoke clearance. What kind of spacers are you referring to?

Spacers and shim kits have nothing to do with camber.... one is for wheel clearance and the other deals with brake pads.
