CAI question, need help...

Ok, my friend has a TL-S and wants to get a CAI installed. He's also afraid of hydrolocking the engine and wants to get the air bypass valve. The problem is this: cutting the one piece CAI requires work lazy bum Is it possible to buy a two-piece CAI and install the bypass valve where the two pieces connect? Has anyone actually done that?

Thanks!

Is AEM the only manufacturer that makes CAI for TL-S??? What is the difference between TL and TL-S intakes? Is there a breather or extra sensor or something??

Thnks!

Injen is the other popular brand that makes intakes for the TL-S. There are other companies too, like Weapon-R, but AEM and Injen seem to be the 2 most popular.

ALFA is correct though, whichever manufacturer you choose, you will need to cut the pipe. Should take you about 5 min. and I've heard the directions with the by-pass are nice and detailed. The 2-piece intake that AEM makes is for the 99-01 TL, so it will not fit properly in our car. It would take more work to get that to fit properly then it would to cut the intake and install the by-pass on the one made for the TL-S......

Thank god I didn't have to cut my AEM CAI.
I have a 99 TL and the AEM CAI came in two pieces already so that I can just install the bypass valve in between them.

BTW, good luck! I hope you have a steady hand while cutting.:p

You know that Home Depot is open 24/7 right?

Austin: wow.. I didn't realize that there was a .25" diameter difference... or is it length difference? In any case, I assumed they'd be the same but as we all know "Assumption is the mother of all ****ups"

You could always call Park Avenue Acura in Maywood NJ at 201-587-9000 and see if they have any Xephyr CAI's left. The intakes are great but the maker was a flake. What's to go wrong?
