CAI noise

Just put in an AEM CAI. The install went fine. I turned the engine over and that CAI is noisy. I'm not talking about at 4000, I'm talking about sitting there idling. You can hear it sucking in air. After the car warms up it's not as noticeable when it idles. When you drive around though I can hear it sucking air everytime I press the accelerator and everytime you let off the accelerator it makes noises and whistleing sounds. Before I owned I nice car I would just turn up the radio when the car made objectionable sounds. I checked the install everything seems okay. I'm under the impression that it's supposed to make some noise but it seems a little excessive. What kind of sounds do your CAI make and are different brands less noisy.

Less noisy? Probably not. More than likely any other setup (other than a stock airbox without a resonator) would be louder. Good thing you didn't go for a short ram. And try to stay away from foam filters. Although some may say that the overall filtering might be better, the humming noise they'll make would give a normal person a headache. (WeaponR for instance)

weapon R is not a respectable company.

they are closer to APC than Comptech.

foam filters from comptech or apexi are good choices.

i'd call the humming poor design.

different filters will give you different noises. I have an AEM filter on my CAI and I can't hear **** until 4000 RPMS and then I get the beautiful CAI roar
