I bought one on Ebay last week and it listed 1999 TL I Believe that they are the same as the 00-03 as long as it's not a type S. But I am not 100%, there seems to be a lot of smart Acura peope on here that could tell you forsure.

Welcome DenverTL.
As for getting the paint off the shift plate to expose that gorgeous chrome, soak it in paint remover for a few minutes or spray it with graphiti remover and wipe off the old paint.

Perhaps it's because I deal with teenagers, many of whom (not all, but many), are too lazy to do things for themselves and are always looking for others to do their work for them.

Ok, Ok.
1. Go to Home Depot and buy some spray Graffitti Remover.
2. Remove trim plate around shift plate.
3. Remove the shift plate.
4. Spray with remover.
5. Leave on for 30 - 45 seconds.
6. Wash off.
7. Repeat as needed to remove all paint.
Only works on '99 TLs.

All i've done so far is order my 19" RH C2's and tint my windows... so not much.. I just don't know what to do next, because I think my tranny will give soon.. but thanks for your help!!!
