A/C Filter Changing
Has anyone chaged the filters (2) themselves? I heard they were behind the glovebox, but do you have to remove it to get to the filters? Seems like that is one of the big expenses (labor and part) in the 15K service.
I've been changing my oil with Mobil One and rotating my tires every 5k miles. I'm just not sure if it is worth the money to take it in.
I work at a car dealership and have very qualified guys work on my car for free. What do you think?

Here are some old instructions that worked for me.
-----
open the glove box. on the right side you will see a shock holding the glove box in place, remove the screw
see those tabs in each top corner of the box that prevent it from falling forward? remove those by putting pressure on the back side of them (this is a little hard the first time)
remove 2 screws at the bottom corners on the outside of the glove box (one in each corner) the box should come out.
cut the tabs (i think they’re labeled) for the square shaped plastic. replace the filters. put it all back together
-----
One last thing, there's supposed to be a way of reinstalling that plastic square that you cut out. I think it mounts sideways. I left mine off when I did mine. I'll put it back when I actually change the filters. Also - do youself a favor and spray some lysol through your system while the filters are out. It'll kill any mold growing on the evaporator.
To do that, place the filter cover pack on (filters out), put the system on full fan, AC off, vent, all the way on its coldest setting, recirculate off. Spray the lysol into the air inlet (just below the windshield). Give it a good shot (30 sec. or so). Then, put the filters in and reassemble everything.
BTW - I also sprayed lysol on the filters themselves before reinstalling to retard mold growth - worked well (you don't need a lot on the filter itself). I took mine out for inspection at 10,000 miles and there was mold growing in between the filter and the evaporator (yuck).
