Buzzing Noise From Stereo

Once in a while I get this buzzing noise from the Stereo when I'm playing a CD. Has anyone else experienced this?

Could be your cell phone interfering.

It's not a rattling noise. It definitely sounds like some type of interference. It's really lound, and it drowns out the music. Come to think of it, I could've been on the cell phone. Does anyone else get this?

Yup. I lay my cell phone in the space under the ash/coin tray. Everytime it rings, it transmits static through my speakers.

I have the same problem also. It's a small crackling noise that occurs once i awhile. This come from cell phones, especially those with nextel. It also happens whenever i place my nextel by my computer(the screen makes a crackling noise).

Yup, definitely happens with PCS (GSM) phones. Cingular is another culprit.
I don't know how bad it is with CDMA/TDMA phones like Verizon or AT&T. I assume it's similar though since they are all digital.

Yep, I get the same buzzing noise with my GSM VoiceStream phone.

I think the new Sprint phones don't do this any more... kensteele, any comments?

Thanks guys. I have an AT&T phone that I suppose is the culprit. This sound is so freaking loud though. All I can hear is this incredibly loud static noise through my speakers. It's not a little static; it sounds like my speakers are gonna explode. Anyway, thanks for the info guys.

I have ATT and I used to get it also, its like a buzz clicking noise. I would get it even when it didn't ring and my phone was near the coin tray. Someone said something about a position for a V60 phone in the cup holder and my V60 fits in perfectly (horizontal to the ground) and the phone no longer interferes with the speakers while the CD is playing. So I'm buzz-free.

Everyone here thinks the cell phone causes the noise. Solution: get a Nokia cell phone. I had mine turned on and sat in the little cradle near the lighter power oulet when i'm in the car. NO noises or interferences. Just my .02:p

Maybe your Nokia, but not necessarily true for allNokias...depends on what standard it uses (GSM, TDMA, CDMA, iDEN). GSM and iDEN are the usual culprits.

I have a Nokia 8260 that uses TDMA. This is pretty messed up that my cell phone could cause this much interference. I mean this noise is so loud I thought my stereo was way broken.

I've got the same problem with my Nokia 3360. Freaked me out the first few times it happened, but at least I always know when my phone is ringing when the stereo volume is up....

Is there any possibility this interference could be damaging in any way?
