buy 1 or 2 new HID bulbs Help

One of my HID bulbs was out for a while and when i finally got around to call acura for a price they told me $ 171.33 Can each!!!!!!!! for a bulb!!!! After the shock obiously I came here did and search confirming the insanity.
currently, my car is at my garage, I had taken the front bumper out, head light assembly, light, ignitor, ballast and confirmed that 1 bulb is out.

I heard that if i replace with a new bulb even if it is the same rating, you can see a difference in color between them two.

1.- is the difference really noticeable? therefore just buy 2 new ones?
2.- better to buy a used one.
3.- any recommendations on where to buy in Toronto besides pacific mall

Thanks guys

You can find bulbs for much less than the dealer charges.

A couple of months ago, I bought a pair of brand new Phillips 4300K D2R bulbs for about $69 shipped through eBay. That's less than $35 a bulb.

You definitely want to replace them in pairs since they do change color over time. You can keep your current working bulb as an emergency "don't give me a ticket" spare.

Stick with the 4300K bulbs for maximum light on the road.

Did you remove all of that just to confirm the bulb was bad?

If so, next time just swap the left and right bulbs and see if the problem follows the "bad" bulb. That's pretty easy to do.

Factory replacement bulbs would be the easiest. You can buy just one for under $100 smackers.

yes, i took everything apart so that i can swap the bulbs & see which one is the one that was bad (couldn't get the cover off and broke some "fins"!!! darn thing is too tight).
The one ignitor is also giving me a problem, the "good" bulb sometimes does not turn on for the pasenger side. When i looked at it carefully, i can see a spark when i turn the lights on but the bulb does not lite. I will swap this ignitor to the other side with the good bulb & see if it does it again. I hope it is not the Ballast $$$$.

This is the first time i take anything like this appart by myself (not handy at all ), even tho is a pain... it feels good

Did you remove the "tamper-proof" Torx T-20 screw before trying to rotate the rear cover off? If you didn't, I can see why you couldn't get that off. That screw prevents the cover from rotating.

You'll need to remove that cover in order to exchange bulbs. Once you remove that cover, you'll be able to access the spring steel clip that holds the bulb in place.

Be sure not to touch the glass part of the bulbs with your fingers unless you're wearing gloves. The oils from your skin can cause a premature bulb failure.

And watch out for electrical shocks if you're not disconnecting the battery.

yes i did remove that screw, I got the info on how to take the whole thing apart from this site but it was still a pain. mmmm... now that i think about it, in order to take off this cover it does not have a specific direction to take off (clockwise or counterclockwise need to confirm). At least i did not see any inner threads in the cap. If this is true then for the pasenger side i did not have to turn it counterclockwise to get it off. This is actually much harder because bellow the tab where the screw enters there is a lip.

aahhh!!!! maybe this is why!!!, then it also explains why it was so easy to take off the driver side cap (screw tab lip is on the other side of rotation).

I'll confirm this tonite

i think it's best if you keep the stock 4300k. i'm guessing you like how the 6k looks or you want your lights to be bluer? you'll lose brightness. anyways, try ebay, they have em.

HID bulbs lose their brightness over time so you should always replace your bulbs in pairs. There will be a difference and you will notice it. Now is the time to upgrade your HID bulbs with something a little different if you want it. You can get a bulb that is whiter or bluer or has a little purple in it.

Check out KAIXEN bulbs. They are high quality bulbs.
