umm.. those of you with 02-03 TL's have the 6-CD in-dash Changer.. of course it'll work.. those of us, including me that has a 99-01 TL, have a single cd player that does not play burned cd's.

my 99TL never had a cd that actually worked.. i bought almost 12 different brands of cd-rs and none of them worked.. so i gave up.. i also have an 03TL that has the 6cd changer and any burned cd's work perfectly fine.

I would really want to go for a 6-CD Changer if it plays all the CdRs. 6-Cd changer is neywas far less a hassle than a single CD

i have the '02 HU for the TL and it doesnt play all of my CD-R's. i have found that burning at a lower speed like 4X works for my HU...BTW, i use to have the old single CD player for my '00 and it played all of my CD-R's perfectly.

45c CDs look WAY cool, but dont work!

I burt using HP record now and using the Itunes software and nothing.
i'm sure this has nothing to do with CDs, but with the burner itself. Its all about spacing in the magnetic tape.

Its always possible to play a burnt cd (i've done it), but as soon as you hit track up or track down, it stop working...and maybe if you leave it long enough, or take it out and put it back in there's a chance it might play again.

Chaitanyaacura: what burner do you have? also, try hitting up/down on the tracks and tell us if it works... i needed cds but i'm not gonna waste such expensive cds.

6 CD Changer

Would the 6-CD changer unit from the later 2nd Gen TLs fit the TLs with the single disc unit?

i think its more cost effective to buy a burner that can do the correct spacing, and then you can burn as much cds and not have to spend a whole lot of money for the head unit and then for installation (at least for me since i suck with wiring)

CHAITANYACURA, what burner do you have??

search for the thread explaining why the burned cd's don't work it'll explain everything... due to the depth of that thread I won't even start explaining.. I know it was stickied.. but I'm not sure if it still is..

Basically the older CD burners will burn almost any CD so our cars can read it, however the newer CD burners (32x and newer approx) burn the information on a thinner groove making our CD players unbble to read the thin groove at times.. at most times, lol

so i was right about it being the burner and not the cds...its is all about "magnetic spacing"

DarkDJ, what burner are you using?

I'm using a Samsung DVD-R drive, which is a year or so old, and burning near 24x. I burn using either Roxio EZ CD Creator, or RealPlayer.

My $.02,

00 TL single CD unit.

I have had no problem with playing burned CD's. I use Nero Ahead (4x speed) and Maxell 80 min/700 MB discs.

I'm told the trick is burning at slower speeds.

The discs will search a bit sometimes (3-8 seconds or so initially), but after that, turn it up!

Hope this helps,

Czar

i'll download Nero and Ez Roxy and play around with burning speeds...
lets see what happens.

its happened when i put a burnt cd in and it takes a few secs to start playing...it'll play the whole cd, but try to change tracks and you're majorly screwd. Does that happen to you?

btw* my burner is almost 3.5yrs old...pc's been updated though 1.7Ghz AMD proccesor (beats any pentium 3 & some 4) 500ram, 256mb vid, 80gb...blah, blah

Maxell CD-R Pro's work perfect in mine. most others dont. No wait time between skips or anything, and i burn at 32X with a LG burner. They're like Goldish at the top and have a bluish bottom. ---99 Acura TL deck.

Aftermarket CD Changer for car w/ Navi

I want to go fo the Aftermarket Cd Changer... Does the CD changer fit in the trunk and directly connect to the Stereo , One of the technicians in a store told me that I cant directly connect the CD changer to the Stereo and instead I have to play through the FM through an RF Modulator as my Car has the Navigation System.

How far is this true.?

most aftermarket decks allow you to directly hookup a CD Changer, so you shouldnt have a problem

What you told is correct , but does the Acura HU have extra auxialliary kind of slot where we can hook up the CD changer. Coz as I told you ,, one of the sales person told me that that one auxilliary is already used by the nAVI. Does is it have another slot too?

If yes....
Any Suggestions for the Changer Brands.... SONY , Pioneer, Alpine ..

Thanks

It will take a few seconds if you decide to switch songs or search for a specific track, but usually no more than 8 seconds (which does seem like an eternity when you want to hear a song).

My 'puter is about 9 months old and I use a Phillips combo dvd/cd writer that came with the machine.

Hope this helps,

Czar
