Post bulbs for turning signals and fog lights

hey guys, i'm a freshman with this site......anyway, just leased my 2002 TL 3 weeks ago and i'm interested in changing some of the bulbs....i wanna change all 4 turning signals to white
1. is there a difference if i put regular white or hyper(super) white?
2. what is the correct bulb number for the rear and front turn signals?

the other bulbs i wanna change are for the fog lights
1. what is the correct bulb number for that?

In addition, what brands do you recommend??
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Welcome to the board, and congrats on the purchase.

I think the hyper whites usually give a more bluish color output.. also some may even take more wattage as well which really isn't a problem.

The signal bulb types are:
front 1157
rear 1156 (with one prong filed off)

The fogs are 9006 bulbs.

As for brands.. I can't really say.. there are many different ones out there..
but the most popular ones are Polarg, PIAA, Catz, hyper..

Hope this helps.

the FAQ is right..

BrooklynTL has a 2002.

7440 for the 99-01 harness
1156 for the 02 harness

BrooklynTL,
The placement of the prongs on the 02 harness are offset a bit and not directly apart from eachother..

here is a pic of what I mean..

on the left, there is a normal 1156 bulb, notice the prongs are directly apart from eachother.. but on the 02 bulb, the prongs are offset a bit more like a quarter of the way apart..

so to get a standard 1156 bulb to fit in the 02 socket, you have to shave off one of the prongs..
ususally, aftermarket bulbs don't have the quarter bayonet style so you will have to do this for any hyper bulbs you want to put in..

The rear turn signal on the TL-S apparently uses a bulb very similar to a 1156; everything about it is the same except the placement of the prongs (the two little knobby things near the base of the bulb. The TL-S OEM rear bulb socket prong slots (for lack of a more proper term) are not at 180 degrees (i.e. not directly opposite) to each other like a standard 1156; therefore the 1156 bulb will not seat correctly in the bulb socket without filing off one of the prongs.

Welcome to the board....I won't reply to the bulb specs however..you may just want to buy regular clear bulbs..instead of the hyper whites...at night you really can't tell......

Anyway...What part of Brooklyn?

fahoumh: I don't know. I got my table of information from people who replace these bulbs themselves, other boards, and general internet searches. They seem to disagree with Tim's table in several areas, but I don't know who's right!

Dammit! The only place I know other than the anyone who's actually changed their bulbs is the dealership....and they're there to restrict our cars to factory specifications. Can't call Acura Canada....they're about as useful as an Anti-Import mechanic. (sorry, that was bad....I couldn't think of anything)

I guess your a BMW lover just like me.

Do you know by any chance any good shops in Brooklyn or Staten Island for aftermarket stuff for the TL (bulbs, etc. etc.)?

ok fellows, i know i'm gettin a little picky now but i need to get some opinions....i went to get these bulbs and i was given a few choices..

1. rear turn signals (hyper white): Polarg M7 21w=42w
Polarg M9 27w=54w
is there a big difference in brightness?, the color when there off?
any preferences?

2. front turn signals: Polarg M12 hyper white 35/5w=70/10w
Polarg M14 hyper white 21/5w=42/10w
Polarg M19 hyper blue 21/5w=42/10w
same questions as above.
