Broken Windshield

Not a rock making a huge crack, but some kids ass punching into my windshield.

I hear an alarm go off from my room and head out to investigate. I notice 2 kids running down the street and assume they hit a car with a ball. My dad says its my car and tells me something is up, so I grab my maglight and head out. Turns out 1 of those kids ran up my hood and butt smashed my windshield. Kinda weird how my mom was telling me about how someone could grab a huge rock nearby and smash my window 2 hours before this happens.

Inside pic, which I hope isn't too madly damaged from the glass.

And 1 of the foot prints!

Acuraoemparts.com lists the price of a new oem windshield at about 350, so should this be the price i should be looking at for a replacement?

well it should be around that price but YOU should at least get a new windshield and also going around the neighborhood and ask. you can prove the damages by taking there shoe and matching it from the print, or checking to see if they have cuts on there hands. if there parents/guardians dont believe you, you have the shoe to prove it haha... that way you can get them to pay you back

Sorry to read about your windshield. That stinks.

When you replace it, be sure to use a high quality brand of glass. The quality can apparently vary significantly. The orignal factory windshield is made by AP Tech and you can't go wrong with that. (You can actually get the same identical AP Tech windshiled with or without the "Honda" label. The one with the Honda label will cost a lot more.)

Good luck with the repair.

Did you report this to the police yet? There may be other cases out there, perhaps with that same foot print...who knows though?

That is just bad. Sorry about your windshield. The windshield wont be free from your insurance. Your deductible will probably cost over the replacement cost. You definitely don't want to spend the money for an oem one. just take the car to shop and have it replaced with an aftermarket one. It will be as safe and good enough; unless the cost difference is not much.

Thanks for the replies. I filed a police report within 10 minutes of this happening. The police arrived with 3 minutes of the call ending. This was in Bayview Hunterspoint area, near Silver Terrance playground for SF residents. This was, as far as I know, completely random. I have never seen those kids before and have no idea why they did this. My dad thinks it was because the car is lowered a bit, so it was easier to get up onto the hood without climbing. Other cars around me at the time were SUV's mainly or had no way to get on the hood easily.

The car had mist built up from the night, so his shoe left a fairly visible print when combined with the dirt/dust.

Regarding the windshield replacement, I have AAA, so I'm hoping that they are going to go OEM replacement. 100 dollar deductible is what I have to pay so says the claims person. Much better than the 350 i was looking at earlier. I just hope the glass on the inside didn't damage the dash or my seats.

Makes you wanna find those little pieces of and beat that ass! People have no respect for other people's property anymore. What goes around, comes around! They'll get theirs.

I thought it was going to be somebody breaking their windshield replacing the rear view mirror. Sucks to hear this, and I hope they catch the little shitheads.
