Brakes issue

Has anyone ran into uneven brake pad wear causing vibration with hawk pads ? I cant seem to figure out my vibration when i touch the brakes. so far new hps front and rear, new front powerslot rotors and re surfaced rears. Ive switched tires front to rear tire pressure is normal. Could id be anything to do with an alignment or wheel balancing?

I bet its your hps rear pads
they are known to have a 3rd raised tab in the inner pad for rears
that extra tab in `top center` touches the piston first and makes pad extend crooked

you can tell by looking at the inside of rotor for half rusty half shiny width and the pad wear will be at an angle on the top to bottem of pad

grind off extra tab FLUSH and it will be ok

beyond that reck all brake sliders are clean and greased- the caliper pins are free and all torques are correct
too tight on calipers can be weird probs too

I will take a look at all that and i tear it all apart and check the front as well. Im going to take it in for an alignment and wheel balance to see if it gets rid of this as well. thanks for the in site on the rear hawks

Uneven wear means caliper/pad is getting Hung up. Fix that, get new pads and vibrations will go away (may need new rotors too)

Check the Rubber things (The ones on the Sliders) on the Calipers if they dont hold vacuum they need to be replaced... Common issue for Sticky Calipers... Happened before on my Rear Calipers.

those pins are supposed to be greased so the caliper slides easily on them,
boots protect grease,, same as cv boots protect that area

vac inside there affecting braking? not that I am aware~

I also had a vibration and thought my brand new rotors were warped after 5k, turn out the hub was the culprit and need some sanding down to get out all the rust.

thats a good point Mobb

always ck the center hub and the hub plate where rotor sits on
any crud buildup there can cause an offset during mounting!
a little sandpaper and some brake grease there is a good plan

Im still going with: hawk has the 3rd tab on inner rear pads as a culprit for unusual braking with new parts,,I had it is how I know!

grind it down flush, below the spacers, so for sure it doesnt hit

if pad wear is too severe to self correct with full use, contact hawk or seller for exchange, I did- and notified them of this prob more than a year ago

The Sliders should come back when Installed if you take the Holding Bracket and remove the Slider and put it back in, It should hold Vac the Boot should inflate and Turn Back by itself its a simple test to know if the Boots are Damaged.

Also worn boots or Pinched Boots make the Grease gets dry or get Dirt and Fails, Same as CV Boots.
