Brake Pad Installation
Hey,
I just got Greenstuff pads for the car, and paid around 130.00 for them. Now im trying to get them installed, and everyone is giving me quotes of nearly $200.00. Is this crazy or am i just niave?
Also, how hard is it to install yourself, and what tools do you need?
Thanks in advance

Not hard at all - I can scan you directions if you like; but it will not be until Monday.
I would also replace the rotors if you are up for it... once you get the caliper off the rotor comes off with just two screws (need an impact tool).
1) Take the lug nuts off.
2) Take I think it is a 14 mm bolt off the top of the caliper
3) This will make the caliper drop and you can remove the pads...(note: get some break cleaner. This is a cheap bottle; but get two... spray the hell out of the springs and the backs of the break pad clamps.
4) Remember which pad had the warring bar (it is the inside pad)... removed the back pads from the break pad. These will go on the new pads... once cleaned.
5) Instead of bleeding the breaks... I took the old pad and pressed it to the caliper (Because of the change from the new and the old pads the caliper will be smaller and you will not fit the new pads in without moving this. Use a vice and the old pad to press the caliper slowly back into place.
Very very very easy... 20 mins per wheel.
