okay for some reason when i started my car a few times my E-BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON....so i hit the e-brake and it depressess then i hit it again to depress it and the LIGHT STILL STAYS on im like er wtf? so i turn the car off then back on and it STILL stays on.....so i drive for a while....and notice it turned off....this happened just a few times...wtf is going on?

 

Same thing happened to me when we had a cold snap back at the beginning of winter. I called the dealer and they said this happens from time to time and they replaced something on the master cylinder (or they replaced the whole thing - I can't remember, but it was all under warranty). I haven’t had a problem since.

 

There is a sensor in your master cylinder that senses if there is no brake fluid in contact with it. It is desigend to let you know if you are low on brake fluid. If you are low, the sensor turns your brake light on on your dash. Check your brake fluid. If it is not low, then you may have a bad sensor.

 

i have a light that says BRAKE LIGHT that turns on sometimes and turns off after a while. it is what it says, your brake lights. check the bulbs for your brake light. even if they turn on, one of them may be somewhat warped which will set off the light.

 

it also means what orcaatk and 69ssrscam said. It is NOT only for your breaklights it is also for your fulid levels.

 

there are two brake lights on the dash... one says BRAKE LAMPS or LIGHTS (dont remember which one it is) and theres another one that just says BRAKES. i would imagine the one for the fluid levels and etc. is the one that says BRAKES.
