Brake fluid

Changing my brakes, and this time I want to change the fluid as well...
How much fluid do I need to do the whole system? And whats the best way to do it?

Also, do I need to get honda fluid, or will valvoline be okay?

i used valvoline synthetic dot3/dot4 fluid with no problems, we just require dot3 or 4 no specific brand. I ended up doing the 2 man method where you pump and hold to flush out my brake system. you will need 2 of those larger quart bottles i believe, for a flush. someone correct me if im wrong.

2 qts, regular or synthetic,,will use about 1.5 doing a really good job,,maybe doing it around the car twice
DOT4 spec is my suggestion
need vac pump/brake bleeder tool for 1 man method,,,

or see my post on 2 man bleeding/flushing
ck DIY section
TIP:
put a small piece of 2x4 wood under brake pedal arm so it can only go 3/4 of the way to the floor- like in normal braking..prevents helper from pushing to floor when you open the bleeder valve

use a new $2 turkey baster to remove MOST of the old brake fluid but not so much that you expose the brake lines in res--pay attention and its no problem

special order!!! is LEFT FRONT then clockwise around the car, thats driver front = LF
so its LF RF RR LR,,, due to ABS plumbing

2 bottles is right. You'll have just a little left over. I have my brakes flushed once a year. I love the FIRM pedal. I use Motul 600RBF.

Well I started kind of late, so I got the new pads/rotors in in a few minutes and then it was getting dark. Most likely gonna flush the system tomorrow morning.

I didn't want to get into a project I've never done before when it is dark out...I'd rather have as much light, and least amount of mosquitos possible. l0l

the important parts are;
keep helper from pushing brake pedal to the floor when you open the bleeder valve-the 2x4 under pedal arm is for that

keep an eye on the master cyl fluid level- refill as needed while you are working on 1 caliper
Brake Fluid EATS car paint--use towels to protect fender surface and around master cyl in case of spills

special bleed order needed on TL is: driver front then clockwise around the car LF RF RR LR
