box attached under air filter?

box attached under air filter?
i recently ran over something in the road, dont know what it was road was dark. Whatever it was damaged the plastic cover on top of the wheel, when i took it off i noticed the box under the filter was also damaged took it off and havent driven it since. Can anyone tell what that box is? Or what its called?

That's the intake resonator. It merely muffles the sound of the intake. If it's damaged, go ahead and remove it. Many of us do it! It's good for a few HP and great sound!
