Exclamation Bought a 99 TL (need some suggestions)

hi guys

so i just bought a 99 tl silver last weekend. poor thing was owned by a couple, who never took care of it. i took out the air filter and it was just filthy. misquitos, leaves and dust, it was worst than a vacuum cleaner filter, after you have vacuumed all your house.

i m planning to buy the spark plugs, air filter and cabin air filter, and replace them all this weekend. i just wanted to know wat are some of the best brand parts that are also almost to the oem specifications to our acuras?

and any other suggestions please fire it at me. i wanna say thank you in advance and am glad that acurazine exists.

I have a 99 also. I just replaced the plug at 82000 miles. It idles/pulls and runs better now. Ran fine before but is now a little smoother. I bought OEM plugs at Advanced Auto. $63.00 for 6. You won't beat the price. Some here will recommend Iridium plugs but they are known not to last as long as the original Platinums.
How many miles on the car???
1. Tranny fluid changed? Use Honda Fluid. Lots of info. on this site/do a search.
2. Inside cabin air filter changed? Auto Zone sells replacements for about $14. Bosch
3. Oil changed?
4. I use Fram filters. Bout $13 at Wally mart if I remember right.
Lots depends on the miles?????? What is it at?

Hello fellow cannuck...I also bought a 99 TL a month ago...had 166k on it. This is a fantastic place for any info on acuras..thnx to every1. I've changed my spark pugs, air filter and the tranny fluid so far. Also seafoamed the car b4 changing the spark plugs. I got NGK Iridiums and a Fram air filter from canadian tire also 2 cans of seafoam from parts source. The seafoam is great stuff...u shud try it ...runs much smoother. Thinking of doing the rotors next :-)

Yeah it was parts source their address: 4420 Sheppard Ave East,Toronto, ON M1S 1T9. (416) 335-9222. I asked the guy why their other stores dont carry it (Ilooked for it at all the other stores)and he said that its only their store that gets it from a 'not disclosed' source...and ppl have asked them for their source but they wont reveal it....quite funny coz just south of the border u can get it at any autozone almost...well see wht ur edmonton store tells u...here the other stores dont even know wht seafoam is

I searched everywhere on the internet and ebay. For the original plugs that come with the car the replacement cost is about $10 buck a piece. Bought them at Advanced Auto. The Iridium's are less=on Ebay for 35-40 Bucks. They aren't the same as the original platinums and talk here on this forum says they dont' last as long. Some people here recommend them and others recommend the original type plugs.
Yea, I didn't like paying that much but couldn't find em any cheaper anywhere. Most places on the internet wanted more than $10 buck a piece for them.

I just picked up a 2002 TL-S myself and changed the following:
Motor Oil
Transmission fluid Acura ATF
Rear Brake Rotors
Rear Brake Pads

This weekend, I will change the following:
Will flush antifreeze
Brake fluid
caliper boot as the rear caliper was siezed as the boot was torn.
side engine mount
front strut mounts
front suspension endlinks

All parts purchased from the Acura dealer. I would have went aftermarket on the brakes however I didnt have the time to wait for shipment.
