Botched AEM CAI install?

A friend and I installed a AEM CAI on my 03 TLS. Now, the car hasn't blown up or anything but it does make a rather odd new sound. NOT the louder sound at high RPMs or the noise related to resonater removal. (I don't think)

There is a sort of low sucking type sound whenever the gas pedal is applied. You can only really hear it when the car is in 1-2nd at low RPMs. It that supposed to happen?

Any info appreciated.

Joe

It's especially loud when the engine's cold. That sound should go away after the car warms up.

Hey i just installed this too and now my gas efficiency has gone donw quite a bit.. Is this normal? I use to be able to get around 450 KMs and now the gas light comes on around 365 km. What do u guys think. I 've only noticed this after installing the AEM CAI. I also just started using premium.

winter might hava a little to do with the milage, but i've had this car for three years and its never been this noticable. As far as the ECU needing to be reset, i was told you don't have to and that it will adjust after a while. Its been a month since i've installed the CAI.
Any thoughts on this is appreciated.

Your MPG will drop with the CAI if your doing short trips or if your on the highway and going at high speeds. Your MPG will increase if your going on longer distances at a moderate speed like 60 - 70 mph.

To reset the ECU all you have to do is disonnect the positive from the battery for 15 to 30 mins... The ECU will automatically reset its self within the next 5 days of driving.

In the winter your MPG will drop if you a stock intake or CAI because of the additives they put in the gas during the winter...
