Question Bosch Oil filter fitment problem (3312)

Hey so I bought a Bosch Oil Filter 3312 and I couldn't get it to fit right on my car. It would go halfway up the screw on thing and then get really tight and not go any further. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

P.S. I previously used a Fram oil filter but after hearing bad things about them I wanted to go to a bit better one.

Yup wrong Part No...! Thinks... OR Perhaps you got a Bad Piece?? Try to Return it for Another one and Try Again...

For 1 Dollar less you can get a K&N Entry-Level: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...65775_331639_0_

In Autozone.com I get part 3312 Like OP were did you get that Number "Mildave"?

Part 3312 seems right: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...artNumber=true

Part 3322 is a Slim Profile Filter doesnt seem to be right...

That link says it doesnt fit my TL-S..
You got the HP-1004 then? White K&N Can? Thats the one I use ALWAYS....
And I always tighten up my Filter by Hand.. In 5 Years not a Single Issue with it.

OP has TL-P not S if I'm not mistaken. Yup HP-1004. I always hand tighten too but when I got tires put on my odyssey they gave me a free oil change. They cranked the piss outta the filter. Had to stab it to grip it well enough to turn loose. Got both vehicles now w K&N filter and royal purple for oil.

FRAMs are pretty bad and they can Colapse in Exteme Cases which is Unacceptable. Switch to BOSCH or K&N Entry Level which are Around the Same Price.

Thanks for the advice. I just changed my oil about 500 miles ago. Is it cool to change only the filter between oil change intervals. If so should I add any oil after filter change. I use 5qts opposed to 4.7.

Yes if you change the Filter some oil will be lost but is less than 1q so No worries if you have a spare one.

Ok so I used the lift at the Dealership.
And It wouldn't fit either.
Everything looked fine, threads seemed ok and all.
even a buddy looked at it.

So I just thought hey maybe its a bad filter, got a new one was at home and tried that one to
It STILL didnt work.
OK. So maybe its a bosche issue.
Lets get a WIX (51334) filter.
Nope still only goes up halfway and then tightens and wont go any further!
wat is going on?
anyone know or could throw a suggestion?

Check the threads on the bung on the engine. Has the treaded tube backed out of the aluminum housing? It is rare but would explain your issue.

Been using them for over a million miles worth of driving. Never an issue.

That doesn't mean it's a good filter. That just means that engines can get away with shitty filters. Just do a youtube search of oil filter cutaways. There are simple facts that show FRAM is the worst quality filter that you can buy.

I actually started using the FRAM Xtended Guard XG3593A instead of the K&N because it's a good $4-5 cheaper. If you look on Youtube you'll see that they are actually pretty decent in the cut-aways. Haven't noticed any visible difference in the used oil. The only thing I miss is being able to ratchet the filter off the car. Most of the negative FRAM reviews are the orange can bottom of the line filters whose elements would collapse under pressure. The XG filters have a metal screen sandwiched in between two layers of filter material - no chance of collapse there.
I used to think Hundai's were garbage too, but things change and we're a little slower to catch up.

Never said that it made it a good filter, but just because its not the best doesnt mean its bad either. There are horror stories out there about everything. Take CAIs for instance and water. The issues are far overblown from a few. No one hears or talks about the non issues. If they were as bad as the internet (because we all know every thing on the internet is true right ) they wouldnt be sold. They must do their job because both of my motors on the TL are just fine with 15k+ intervals and a filter change every 7500 I will continue to run the xtragaurd on the new motor that is going to be higher strung too.

Don't know anything about the XG, so I can't comment on that. But I can certainly say the cheap regular orange filter is bad. I'm not saying that it's not the best, I'm saying that it is terrible.

That being said, I'm running the cheapest orange filter on my new CL-S6 engine. Because you're right, it works just fine. Despite being the worst quality oil filter made, it won't cause any problems.

Check the threads for any burrs or metal shavings. Once at the dealership I thought everything was going great. Simple oil change on a new focus, it's very first one. Start removing oil filter. It hung up a little so I cranked on it. Ended up actually removing the plug the filter screws onto because there was a huge gash on the threads. Had to force it to turn out of the filter then use a thread file to clean it up. That and the time I got the filter stuck between the starter and frame on a V6 ranger were by far my worst oil changes. Thing sparked like crazy and burned a hole into the filter! Whoops

I didnt take the word on the Internet just did a Simple Test...
1 FRAM Filter for all 15K worth of Mobil 1 EP, Same with K&N Filter; I Know OVERKILL.

FRAM was 2 times Dirtier at the Change in 15K.. K&N was Noticeable Cleaner (Not Like New but It wasnt Brownish Gold like FRAM). So it Didnt Collapsed On me but It didnt do a good Job on keeping the Oil Clean Either.
