Question Bmw Z3???

Is it possible that we can take the new Z3 any model with out TL-S? This dude wants to race me and I want to know if i can beat him. I don't want to lose my 260hp reputation by losing to him.

I blow those off all the time! No problem. They don't have enough power!

I read on Autosite.com that the new Z3 with the 3.0l runs 0-60 in 5.9-6.2 sec. The 2.5 runs it in 6.7-6.8 sec. I don't know which one it is and dont want to run into the 3.0.

Z3 3.0 manual will spank our TL-S good. Auto should be a close race, with Z3 edge out TL-S slightly. 2.5 should be close if it's a stick, 2.5 auto or 1.9 will be no match for TL-S....

imagining how fast a 330i manual is (6.2), the lighter z3 3.0 manual should be even faster. you car will smoke 2.5 for sure.

good luck... give some arrogant bimmers an lesson

Keep in mind, too, that most Z3's on the road are the old model which had the 1.8L engine--talk about SLOW!

Here's how to tell:
- No markings on the back (except Z3) = 1.8L
- 2.3, 2.8, 3.0 on back = engine displacement
- No markings on the back (except ///M) = don't bother! :p

You can also gauge by the number of tailpipes:
- One little pipe on the left side = 1.8 or 2.3
- Two little pipes on the left side = 2.8 or 3.0
- Four big pipes, two on each side = 3.2 ///M

And in my experience (from test driving), the 2.8 and 3.0 are not as fast as the magazines claim. I think a TL-S should hang with or probably pull away from them. One poster even talked about smoking an M Roadster earlier, so it really depends on the drivers, road conditions, etc.

Don't touch any Coupe or Roadster with a 3.0. Manual plus diff in weight... We'd get scorched.

Oh, that's the Z3 COUPE and it comes with the same engines as the roadster. Surprisingly, since you'd expect the coupe to be lighter and more agile than the drop-top, reported times and cornerning figures have been BETTER for the convertibles. Anyway, the coupes perform about the same as the roadsters witht the same engine.

And don't forget that the new ones //M's will have 320hp (10 less than the M3 due to exhaust modifications).
