Wow, this has got to be a first! A cocky TLS owner! I mean you would expect it from us BMW owners, but not one of you guys! (Thats why I still come here instead of BMW forums - talk about attitude and ego).

I love it how you comapre the TLS to ONLY the M5, S4, and E55 (and other ultra expensive super sport sedans). 1) Those cars will have you seeing their tailights any day, 2) Add some twisties and its even worse. Do you like to lose? Cause you would lose against ANY of those cars.

Why don't you consider racing cars that are more of a driver's challenge, aka cars in the same class and also involving some turns. Because we all know, mashing on the gas and steering in a straight line is harder than rocket science.

I love my car but agree with neo that the TLS does not compare to an M(anything) or E55! Stock, auto S4 maybe...but only in a straight line.

What mods do you have 2fast?

ahem... this thread is so long that i am sure i must have posted earlier on, however, after reading some late comments I feel compelled to note that unlike mentioned here before, the TLS aint hitting no ceiling at 120. At that speed it actually changes VTEC configurations (in 4th) and really starts to haul azz. ( :wow: stock).

Is the 540 limited in speed also, or are those only the punnie 3 series? 'cause if it is....

BTW with all of you familiar with the turnpike heading north in South Florida (miami-dade/broward), Right after the Calder race track toll booth (beginning of turnpike extension) there is a nice little left sweeping curve with a short exit and countered with the on ramp at the end... 100 mph in 3rd... pulling out strong... If our stock tires are chit then I can't wait to get on some serious rubber, 'cause the car impressed me with the lateral force it was excerting.

M cars are a-w-s-o-m-e (but for the money -yes it is a real factor- the tl-s is a-w-s-o-m-e too)

 

all BMW's, including the M3 and M5 are limited to 155mph...

 

LOL...I didn't say the TL-S wouldn't exceed 120mph, I said it hits a wall at around 120mph...From 120 to 130 something takes as long as a Eurovan does to hit 60! Forfreakinever!

I don't think any TL-S owner (except maybe 2fast) is gonna claim the TL-S pulls on anything at 120 and above--even with mods like mine...:flamer:

Hmm....I have an A4 and I don't waste my time on S4's...much less TLS's. Yeah, that GT-28 under my hood is the main reason why...

When you run a high 12, low 13 at over 105 mph...let me know..

well, the secret is out..stickers add serious power! Cars and drivers don't win races....stickers win races.

 

Yup...Gotta love the streets of J-ville. There are like 9,000 Monte Carlos and Taurus owners with the whole replica Nascar theme going on. I figure on the highway when they are drafting behind me at 65mph and make that .249 second lane change to the left to slingshot around me, I have no chance at all and don't even bother hitting the s/s to try to keep up...

 

people like that are the reason I've been staying ouit of the left lane unless I need to pass. but even then so, like you say then come right up on your and draft a bit until they wan to go left to pass you. When people see your car is modded, they all seem to want a piece. And very few people handle losing well.
