Blown Gasket

So I have a 02 Tl that I just bought private sale and the head gasket blew a week later. Would you recommend repairing it or buying another engine completely. If I do go with a new engine what do you recommend? If I get a used one what should I look for if the company is online. I see remods are 2x to 3x the price of a used one. Thanks everyone ahead of time for you assistance

Is there damage to the motor (ie did the car overheat, or you kept driving it while its blown)? Head gasket failures on these motors are VERY rare, IF you go the new(er) engine route just try look for a lower (than your current) mileage engine. You can also run the J35a3 motor (02-03 MDX), if you have the type-s all you have to do is swap your cams over. Used motors are easy to find cheap. I picked up a low mileage J35a3 for 350$

From my understanding the car was overheating and before they pulled over the car shutdown on them. I have the base model. I have found some used ones for around $500 with 100k-120k. It seems to be a normal price.
