Blacked out headlights

Just a question, Is there a way to black out my headlights on my 02 tl's? I have seen some pics in the member gallery of cars with this mod. Or is it just new headlights that you buy???

Thanks,

J.P.

Perhaps the car you've seen had the a-spec headlight housing. They come in Blue or Black ( Smoked ).

367.00 ( US $$ ) each from an Canadian Acura dealership.

The only problem is that Canadian Dealers want a A-spec Vin in order to get any A-spec parts for you. Why that is I dont really know, so for us here in the US, its pretty much a do it yourself thing unless you have a friend in a dealership or with an A-spec in Canada.

Mr Hyde,

Actually, there are several Can. Acura dealerships that I've found that will sell you any A-Spec part. The only downside is that you have to pay a lot when it goes thru customs or to avoid, make a trip to Can..

If you need Can. Acura #'s, let me know..

Couldn't a A-SPEC owner just order the parts for us, the guys in the US.

I got mine done locally by someone who did a lot of RSX owner's lights. (The Integra Type R in Japan has blacked out headlights so a lot of RSX guys get it done).

Here's a LINK to the pics... wasn't too expensive either.

Maybe he's afraid of getting moisture inside the headlight and blow the bulbs out. Then you can't blame nobody. I've seen that a couple of times.

So far I've had 1 problem with fogging. My method works and if it does fog I warranty the work. I would redo them for free.

Won't blacking out the headlight housing affect the light reflecting out, or am I missing something?

No it will not. The reflective part for the lighting is left untouched.

If I open up my headlights will it be obvious which part to paint and which part not to? I think I'm just not getting it cause I'm not looking at a headlight right now...

Yes you will. When you open it up the chrome piece thats attached to the lens is what you paint. You reflective piece that are on the black backing of the headlight you leave alone..
