Bklyn, NYC TLers, need some info from u

Hey,

I have H&R springs, to install them, auto shops are asking for 300 bux, which is insane. I do not want to attempt to do it by myself, because I will spend 10 hours doing it, with like 6 hours dedicated to compressing the damn springs.

If you guys know of a g00d mechanic that charges normally, or if u r REALLY dying to help me with the install (LOL)... let me know...

Thanx.

That is insane, I asked around a few places and at most I think they said was $200 and this for was coilovers which probably isnt that much more work. It has been a while since I havent gotten coilovers or springs yet, I will see if I can get the #s for u.

yeah, that price is insane, the hardest part to compress the springs, the rest is simple.

i'll appriciate any help. There is no point of paying for installation more than i did for the springs.

275 is too damn much. all it is is compressing the string. a good mechanic with a spring machine, it will take him 2 hours tops... 300 bux?

my car is in the shop, 160 bux. They were the recommended installer for Teins, so they know what they are doing.

They were however experiencing problem with the left upper control arm, the bushing is crap, so they couldnt bolt it back up, so tomorrow they will order the bushing, and i shouldbe done tomorrow.

done, 160 plus 10 bux tip with free new bushings. so 170

Tested it, no squeeks, and its not that bad, the ride is firmer, which I like, I tested it on high speed, I switch lanes better...it holds the turns. sweet. Now i have to wait a week to get an alignment.

thanx for all yer info...

If u guys in NYC area, and u want to get your teins/springs or anything else like that, this shops specializes in this.

They have a lot of race cars there, yesterday I've seen Lancer Evo imported from Japan, steering wheel on the right side, with so many awesome mods, this thing is illegal in the states...

You think they have the expertise to figure out / fix all that rattle and noise I get from the teins and spc rear camber kit?

I spoke to them like approx 5 mnths ago for help with the teins (noise). They said they'll charge me about $150 to look at it and take it apart. There was no gaurantee it will be fixed so I didn't take it to them.

based on the rides i've seen there, they know what they are doing. while i was there, i've seen a lot hot cars pull up there, plus they are listed on teins website for a recommended installer..

Bxscig, installing them.

so did you eventually get it fixed? how bad it the rattle and do you only hear it on bumps or something? probably gets pretty annoying after a while huh?

Spent lots of money, went to dealer and 2 other side mechanics and nothing! I had the engine mounts and ball joints changed and same sh*t. Rattle only in bumps, but it gets annoying. Might try this one more time and take it to Initial D Auto Salon. There not to far from my job.
