Talking Birch vs. CTS

A buddy of mine in the office got a call from Cadillac last week. They came by and dropped of a CTS for him to use for 24 hrs. This is where the fun begins.... Exterior-wise, I think the car is pretty sharp. My TL-S is dropped with H&R sports so this think look like an AMC Eagle (remember those?) next to mine. I thought the inside of the CTS looked cheap. Typical GM loose parts and rattles :yack: but the 225/50/17's looked huge compared to our stock tires.

Now the fun part...

Three of us took off in the CTS. Soft shifting (even in sport mode) and a lot of noise without much oomph. Braking was decent from 90 to a stop on an exit ramp. Rear wheel drive was nice and the navi set up was pretty cool (I don't have navi).

Then the three of us jumped in my car. No freakin' comparision here folks. We took a long onramp onto the Elgin-Ohare and came out of it at 95 still accelerating and quiet compared to the CTS. Handeling was awesome. Saw a Dupage Cty Sheriff, but he had already pulled someone over :wow: That wouldda sucked.

Overall, the CTS is a nice car for under $30k and I bet it does well. Now if that rumor of dropping a vette engine in that thing is true.... WOW!! That will be a nice car. If ours had RWD....

Side by side acceleration... he might as well have been on a bicycle

The CTS is priced at $36K when I saw it in the recent auto show. There are too many German and Japanese alternatives for that price. I only saw it once on the street since its introduction so don't think it will be a hot seller for Cadillac.

I believe that Bob Lutz at GM has confirmed production of the CTSi (it may or may not be called that when it comes out). The CTSi will have the LS6 engine from the Z06 Vette', so it should put out 400 horses at least, also equipped with a 6 speed manual tranny. Look for it in a year or two, surely it's going to be one bad azz Caddy!

That would just be humiliating to drive those test those two cars head to head. About that CTSi, how much do you think that will run. Surely it will be over $40k
