Biggest peeve

I find the location of the ignition thingy quite annoying. It is really hard to find. And in the dark, it only stays lit for a short time.

In all my previous cars, I quickly adjusted to the location of ignition and could get the key in the hole by feel. This one is pretty tough.

After starting the car a few times the hole becomes second nature. I dont even look anymore i just guide my hand there and the key goes right in.

much like finding other holes.... its takes a little practice... when you have a new hole to insert *cough* your key in, it takes a little practice to get the approach correctly. maybe you haven't had too much practice inserting your key in different holes.. maybe your hairy palms are causing you difficulties. but like inserting other things, inserting your acura key in your TL is not that difficult. practice it a little.. its all about muscle memory.

p.s.. i wouldn't call using rosey palm as practice.

My biggest peeve

Biggest Design Peeve: I may be the only guy to complain about
this, but whenever I use the auto window opener I instinctively
open the back window. It's just closer to my hand, I guess. And it
bugs the hell out of me.

And then... the rattles in my sun roof. I like to keep the sun roof
open but I get such rattles that it bugs the hell out of me and I
end up just closing it.

Otherwise, I would say I like, rather than love, my TL-S. I also find
that the seats are kind of uncomfortable, and I haven't been able
to find the perfect setting yet.

Haven't heard any trouble in the tranny yet, thank you!

My Biggest Pet Peeve

My Biggest Pet Peeve

I can't believe I forgot this when I was writing my post above.
When I first got my car there was a little sticker residue, about 2 inches long, on the drivers side window. It sort of looks like a finger smudge. I have tried everything I can get my hands on to try to get that damned smudge off the window, but nothing seems to work.
A while back other people were discussing this, it may have come from a price sticker from the manufacturer, but I have been away for a while and haven't found any resolution.
Any ideas?

Once in a while a post comes along that's just right for the pickin'. Ruski, what an initiation. Welcome to the forum. I'm kinda new here, too, but I have to say this board has some pretty cool people.

Hyde,

I can't tell you how much better I feel that other people have the same problem with the windows (misery loves company) but when it's the moderator... well that makes it alot easier to handle.

Have you people ever noticed WHERE the ignition switch is? On the steering wheel and not on the dash.

Hey, when I need to open my window in a hurry, I often hit the rear window too.

I guess I have short hands of fingers. Maybe that can explain why I can't find the key hole right away.

But seriously, in order to visually locate the hole, you have to lean to the right, it is kind of tucked in behind some other parts of the steering column. And so far I have not developed a good muscle memory for this particular hole (hey I used to play piano for 9 years, I think I normally have good muscle memory). With other cars, I developed that muscle memory much quicker.

You have to be careful in putting your key in the ignition. The black plastic area around the hole is easily scratched, so you have to be careful. I noticed the other day that I hae scratches all around the area of the hole.

P.S. Man is it tough talking about this without implying a double-meaning.

I think I complained too soon.

On Friday, after complaining about my pet peeves here, I took the car out, and fifteen minutes later got bashed from behind by a truck!

ooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOch!

Great timing, too. You can be sure that the insurance adjustors are just running to their jobs this time of year.

(Now I really have something to complain about!) The side and back of my car got bashed!!!

If I had a dollar for everytime I opened the right rear window, I would be rich, and I have only had this car for 6 months.

The question with the windows is if you had the same experiences with your previous car. Mine was a 98 Maxima, and prior to that a 95 LeSabre... and never had a problem with either of them.

Uncomfortable Seats

A little while ago I mentioned that the seats in the TL-S, while they look amazing, are not too comfortable over the long term.
Someone in a different thread mentioned a review of the TL-S on epinions.com, this what he had to say:

http://www.epinions.com/content_44055498372

<<There is a fair amount of understeer and unlike the controlled response in a BMW, road faults are quite jarring. The seats are very uncomfortable for the luxury segment, even for a sport suspension the ride is plain terrible - and you do not even get terrific handling for this serious compromise. What a rip off! My parents when visiting me specifically mentioned that the car was quite "uncomfortable"...and they never comment about cars!!! Make sure you get some EXTRA NECK BRACES for your passengers.. Geez! >>

Besides rattles, the only pet peeve I have are with the steering wheel lock mechanism.
Both my 3.2TLs and my Accord have the same lame lock system and it bugs me that I have to lock it in place when I leave the car and when I get in to drive. I say this because I also have a Subaru legacy and the memory lock on that car even though it’s 11 years old is much more advanced than my 20002 TLS. Honda could learn something here.

His tires are probably overinflated. Oh yeah, and he probably works in BMW Sales as well

What an idiot. I read his review and it sounded like it was written by a not-so-subtle competitor.

Rattles Rattles Rattles Rattles

OMG this car has way too many rattles at 7k

Besides that, the freaking climate control in the winter is crazier then a bunny on crack. Set it to 74, freeze your ass off for 10 minutes then all of a sudden its 90 degrees in the car.

If I don't lock it in the up position when I leave the car, then when I get back in the steering whell is to low for a comfortable getting in. Again the Subaru as memory lock and springs upward when not locked. - Now, I feel better -.

You know, I've experienced that once in a long long while. I set my temperature to 68 deg. in the winter and it's been humming right along. I set it to 69 the other day and the interior probably got up to 75 deg!

Climate Control

Yeah it works fine most of the time but every once in awhile it goes nuts. It can be 30 degrees out and i have the climate control set to 65, its 90 in the cabin - gotta have the dealer check it out next time.

How about your car's thermometer? I'm convinced that mine is off by +5 degrees fairenheit. I know that my temp. isn't always going to be the same as that which I hear on the radio, but it's consistently 5 degrees off. Anyone else?
