Big Surprise

Just had my car in for its yearly safety inspection , and guess what , it failed . Had
to be made road worthy or off the road in something like 14 days. REJECTED.
Couldn't believe it when they told me my car needed new lower ball-joints , thought
they were talking about someone else's car. Now, this is new ball-joints for both sides.
Thinking that it must be something wrong with my car ( 2003 tl Type-s ) with
12,600 kilometres ( 7,875 ) miles on it . I called the service manager the next
day and he told me that it was a bad batch of ball -joints effecting cars all across
Canada . Hummmmm , wonder if this is true or was he just blow'n smoke
up my #$%^&. Anybody else have this happen ????
Also , have to bring my car in for a recall on the tranny. Did not get a notice in
the mail, Was just told when I was in the service department , getting the yearly
safety inspection done. The change they are goin to do is to add another cooling
line ( or a longer cooling line ) to the second gear , as this gear tends to heat up
and cause problems.

Regards,
Seahawk

For the "bad" Canadan problems, I have heard it lot's of times. I would just take it in and forget about that. Still that sucks that your car was rejected. As for the tranny, it is going to be an official recall in like March or something. They are probly just gunna do it now since your bringing it in, hey your ahead of the crowd. I took mine in for the recall April and the dealership had to call Tokyo to see what I was talking about, but Tokyo told then about it and they fixed it.

Your ball joints are covered under warranty, right?

I do believe that ball joints were a bit of an issue with the TL

OHHHH YEA , covered under warranty, no problem there. If what I was told by dealer is true
and it's a bad batch of ball joints , this problem would not only be in Canada but U.S. as well
since our cars were assembled in the great state of Ohio , there should be some U.S. TL 's with
this showing up as well. Remember , my ball-joints were worn enough ( on both sides ) that
my car would not be allowed on the road after a 2week get it fixed period and this is with only
12.6 KM ON THE CLOCK.
