Big fail on dealership!
Big fail on dealership!
so I took my 2000 TL 3.2 navi into the dealership for a oil change. drove it for a couple days and then when i started my car one day, the engine itself started to rumbling really really hard. I barely had control of it cause it kept rolling when i was on D5 and the brakes didn't really stop the car.
turned off the car and opened the hood. Checked all the oil and guess what? the Engine oil was empty when i checked the stick. it was below the bottom hole! i bought some oil from Kragen and put about...3 bottles in. Turn the car on and let it run through for a while to lube everything. Then the car worked again for a while. During the while sometimes i turned on my car it engine started to rumble again and i turned it off and start it again and it's fine.
does anyone know why and how i can fix this? Can it be tranny even if i didn't even put it in any gears yet?

Is it possible the dran bolt is loose? That's probably why you were able to drive a few days and only now noticed the rumbling. You could probably still prove that its the dealership's fault if that's the case.
Or you may have a serious leak. Check your oil level again, and underneath the car for any big leaks.

I woulda let it run more then i woulda towed it to the dealer asap. You coulda had a good thing going for you at the dealers expense but now i think that chance is over. Still contact them and talk to the service manager.
Every 3 thousand religiously.
Also you indicated the car was in Drive and was running at a higher than idle speed with weak brakes. Odd as the brakes would have no problem holding back the engine unless you have a vacuum leak. With the engine running rough and no oil (or leaks) check for a malfunctioning PCV system. You may be just burning the oil caused by a vacuum leak through the PCV. Is there any dark damp soot in the tailpipes?

I dont go by months, i go by miles. I typically go 14-15k intervals with syn. 3k intervals is just a waste of oil and money, if you are using dino oil go with what the manufacturer recommends which is 7500k intervals.
that whole brakes wont hold in D5 thing is what you need to address
Possibles- unplugged brake booster line or major vac hose knocked loose
Vac hose at motor mount broken or mount failed and leaking vac
take it back to the dealer and speak with the service MANAGER
You can draw an oil sample and send to the lab- they can tell you what brand it is (what you bought vs the shops normal oil) and how much wear is in it= metal shavings from damage
its leaking it, or burning it, or the oil change kid put in 2 qts and forgot the rest in which case acura just bought you an engine!!

What kind oil do you use? I've never heard of anyone going that far on one oil change. Do you change the filter in between at least?I usually do a change at 8000km, or 5000 miles, but I have a different car.
I would definitely talk with a service manager as stated above and if they didnt fix the problem, I would contact Acura / Honda and have them speak with the dealer. Most Service Managers know they live and die by those surveys Acura does, and should be trying to fix the situation with no out of pocket expense.
if you had a quart in the system it will still make enough pressure to keep the light happy- they call them idiot lights for a reason~
The TL has very low oil pressure at idle so the low pressure sensor is extra low before it trips
something is very wrong with this car between the engine noises and brakes not working
I would find the problem before driving further
Possible brake booster failure?

If there was any oil on the dipstick, 3qts should have brought it over full, are you sure you got a good reading. I would definitely take it back to the service department and at least let them know of your problem.

all readings must be taken after a few minutes engine off- remove stick and wipe clean- insert and remove to read
Oil will be splashed up in the tube during operation and cause false readings
but if 3 qts put it at full and not over---
Whats the shop got to say about it?
How are the engine noises?
