big $ difference on service at dealerships

Just had my 60,000 service done at Walker Acura in New Orleans, cost me $572.75 plus tax coming out to be $622.42!

However, Acura of Baton Rouge (hour outside New Orleans) wanted to charge $450 plus tax!

I called both and they listed I believe the exact same services so why the huge difference???

Thanks!

Anyone else been to either of these dealerships for the 60k service?

well i didn't want to do it, but since I didn't pay for it I figured it's better for them to have a record of what they did and that I actually had the service done. I know some people just take their car to a mechanic that they know, but i just wanted to have peace of mind that the dealership can be to blame for anything they did or didn't do.

I know I got ripped off, i knew this going into it. I just didnt' know why the two dealerships were so far off in price for the same service for my 2001 tl.

I think dealers are similar to McDonald, each has different owner. Therefore, the price is set differently. For instance, I got only $4.5/qt of ATF fuild from a Honda dealer 10 miles from my house, where I got 5.5/qt from the one 5 miles to my house. Just

About 60K service, Acura/Honda Corp. gave out the guideline so Acura dealers should follow the same, however in reality, not all dealers would follow. That's why they have Acura Client Services

It's really important to check around for prices.

I called the local dealer in MD for the 30 k servicing. $375.00!!

I then asked how much with the additives for fuel and oil and no air and cabin filter (I do those myself). Now it's $275.00

Then I call my regular repair guy and the whole thing (no additives) is $230.00.

Now it's sounding better.

Take off another $70.00 for the filters and it's a reasonable $160.00 for a glorified oil change!!

Yeah, what exactly did they do for the 60k service? And what do you mean you didn't pay for it?
