Best bang for the buck?

This question goes to all of you pioneers who have paved the way for us newbies to the TL-S.

What mods have you performed that TRULY made a difference in your cars performance, what did it cost you, and were you able to do it yourself?

If this seems like an open ended, all around, bullsh!t question...it IS!

I've just got my new ride and have started my list of mods. I want to put the ones that I'll notice the difference in at the top!!

AND still keep your factory warranty. I don't think Acura would be too stoked about my car having headers!!

BTW Snapple,

I'm looking for responses from those who have already done it and can vouch for the performance increase they obtained.

NOT to downgrade your input...it is VERY MUCH appreciated. BUT we all have wish lists. Mine is two miles long!!!!!

I (you) want to hear from those who have done so and can say YES, here is a mod worth the $$$$ !!

Cheers all

1st, get the 50$ drop in K&N air filter, I believe it added a little PEP

Then you can starty goin crazy later with water ingesting CAI, warranty voiding heads, etc...

Is the K&N drop-in pep actual "pep" or "pep" that is just in your head? Either way is fine with me, I was just curious. I plan on getting the K&N drop in either way. I'm not looking for huge gains, just little ones

OK...if you want the absolute BEST BANG for the buck mods...the 3 top things would be.

Tires.
Headers.
Sways.

Obviously one would question the tires, because although they offer the best performance increase, they score faily low in the top 3 best bang for buck contest. Why? well unlike headers or sways, you would have to replace them again over time, so for now, I suggest you get the headers and sways and buy tires when they wear out. UNLESS...you buy aftermarket rims/tires right away so you could sell your stocks for a decent price.

BTW...I have all of the mentioned mods amoung others (except the tires...which will be sumitomo HTR+)

I second BlackBeauty,'s K & N vote. For $50 it is by far the most cost effective upgrade that you can do. You definitely feel a boost, you get a few more mpg, and it is louder, and it definitely saves you money on replacement filters. A win win for a $50 1 minute upgrade. I think I paid $44 from someplace on the web so check around.

first off, headers wont void your warranty. theres been numerous discussions about aftermarket parts and warranties. your warranty can only be voided if they have proof that the aftermarket part directly affected the problem.

my vote is for CAI and headers. great performance increases, and a great engine sound at high rpms.

im waiting on the sways right now, i've heard many people here say that the stock tires and sways are a bad combo. in the spring my next upgrade will be better tires and the sways.

I agree with bug230... it depends what you want to do.

If you're interested in handling... I'd go Springs/Sways/Tires first.

If you want some speed... headers will get you about 30hp at the wheel. The only two that are available are OBX and Comptech. Do a search and you'll get TONS of info on either. If you want to spend a little less money... an Intake will run you around $220 or so and get you 6-8hp at the wheel.....
