below freezing - no washer fluid coming out?

1. As i figured out from cars passing by is that washer fluid doesn't freeze at or below the freezing point. So i am driving in the snow and decided to get some washer fluid out - nothing comes out only wipers are moving. After my car set in a heated garage for 3 hrs i had to drive again and i used the vipers - washer fluid come out!!! I am like WTF???

I went to a 10min oil change place on Neptune ave (some people from BK know what i am talking about) to get my oil changed, filter cleaned, and replenish the fluids. They were the ones to fill the car with washer fluid.

Any ideas are welcomed!!!

2. BTW same day i get rammed by a dumb ass driver from behind because of "blizzard like conditions on roads", scratched the paint from the bumper - A$$hole!!! I let him go... What's the point of getting insurance involved? What would you do in my place?

Please post responses....

Thanks for listening!

im in nyc also. couldnt get the wiper fluid to come out either. it may just be that the hole it squirts out from may be frozen in with snow.

as for your bumper, you shoulda taken his phone # down so you can get some $$$ from him w/o involving insurance!

Try using fluid with a little methanol in it like the Rain-X kind or any winter solution. If you don't want to go full strength, just dilute it, but not too much. Alcohol keeps liquids from freezing and will dry up with minimal residue.

It was perfectly fine for me. Did some snow ice up around the spot where it is supposed to come out?

A lot of places dillute their washer fluid... too much sometimes. I've had it happen to me after I bought some fluid for $0.99, since then I only get more expensive stuff - and get no more problems. I think it has something to do with the way our nozzles work - making those small dropplets of washer fluid makes fluid freeze at the higher temperature. So only use high quality fluid with confirmed low freezing point.

I mixed the Rain-X 50/50 with water and so far so good. I did not it too concentrated because I didn't want to possibly damage anything due to the methanol in the mix. Today was a low of 8F.

it's gonna happen with any car. The nozzles will freeze up. Rub your fingers over the nozzles...that usually is enough to melt what's clogging it. If not, jsut wait until the engine defrosts the lines. Don't worry too much about it. It happens, use better fluid, not the cheap $.99 stuff.

I had the same problem with mine about a month ago. Heated garage, full tank of fluid, etc...

Dealer checked it while in for an unrelated issue and I was told that the fluid hose had popped off. Apparently, they (Hubler Acura in Indy) have seen this before...

Of course, I failed to ask which side the hose had come off from; the nozzle side or the tank side. Might be worth a quick look, though.

not all fluid is for winter use and freezes faster. get a good deicer fluid and add it to your tank. also pop your hood and make sure that your hoses are hooked up
